Getz Crdi Ownership Experience @ 11k

Hello Team,

This is my very first post on Team-Bhp, By this thread i would like to share my initial experience of owning this baby.

I purchased this baby in July 08 and its clocked over 11000kms by now, i live in n mumbai and travel a good 70kms each day. We have a clocked a lot of trips to Lonavala, Alibaug and also one trip to Goa.

I usually drive with a heavy foot on the Gas and despite of this it returns about 11kmpl which according to me is ok. I have managed a decent 195kmph on Mumbai-Pune expressway enroute lonavala. I had ample throttle left but the traffic didnt permit me to. I feel this baby can cross the 200kmph barrier( I saw some videos shot overseas where its done 210kmph)

Btw the original soles were pathetic Good year tube types, i have changed them to Apolo Accelere Sportz 185 60 R14 and the handling of the car has improved by leaps and bounds.

This babe gives me an extremely comforatble ride even on rough roads, the suspension is firm at the same time comforting. The NVH levels are extremely low, There is however one sore point in the drive quality, while driving with a very heavy foot in low gears the car tends to lose the grip on the front end, which is not very confidence inspiring. Leaving this point i have not felt any other issue with the Getz.

We have got a few custom fittings onto my ride, We have put dual tone (Biege and Coccoa)seat covers which fits on the original seat contours, I have added a custom spolier, fog lights, Keyless entry etc. I have replaced the stock headlamps to Philips Xenon also i have managed to replace the Fogs with a Xenon H27. I have installed a Garmin Nuvi200w GPS system as well.

Phew at last but not the least ICE - The HU is an Alpine 9887R connected to an ipod classic, 4 Kicker RS series components (All Doors), 2 Infiniti Oval speakers, 1 Kicker CVR (Dual Voice Coil) Woofer, 1 Kenwood 4 channel, 1 kenwood 2 channel and 1 JBL Mono bloc amplifiers. There is no boot space left as expected and we have installed a custom made MDF enclosure which weigh approx 50kgs without the components. All the above was possible because of support and guidance from my friend Goldy from Siddhi Car Accessorier Sec-17 vashi.

Am yet to put alloys on this awesome babe since i am not able to make up my mind on the ones locally available. Lenso ones are cool but very limited options in 14".

Its a really long post, but i hope its of interest.

Nice pic and ownership report, Speek-Freak.
However, my neighbour, who owns a Getz crdi, says it is very stable at speeds over 100 kmph. He says it is lighter than a Verna, and hence gets unsteady at high speeds.
I wonder if your change of footwear has contributed to its stability.

You get only 11 KMPL on the Getz D? Isn't that low?

That is very very low indeed. I hope you are not revving it like a petrol.

P.S just noticed your heavy foot.

195 in a getz ? That's fast.

Why dont you Pete her ? Will definitely give you even more grunt than you already have ! And judging by your mods, you are not averse to blowing big bucks on your baby.

Installing pete's box is a risky job man. The brakes are definitely inadequate for stock power. Increasing it by another 20% is inviting trouble. If installing pete's for driveability then its cool.

My Getz CRDi is running on 205/50-15 performance tires and at times i get scared becuase of poor braking.

Correct , the brakes are poor . Its risky to go for Pete's PSI .
