After reading everybody's review, it seems I must have done something wrong.

Come to think of it, due to traffic, I never was able to take the cars past 80-85 for the Petrol (3rd/4th Gear), and 85-90 for the Diesel (3rd/4th gear).

So, I guess, I may still have been under the crucial 2k-mark, all that while
