and ask him if it came with michelin rubber as OE

Considering that the suspension is built keeping in mind the pick up bed, it is bound to be stiff. With fewer passengers, expecting a change is ride quality is natural and this again will disappoint your friend. Ask him to look at safari or Scropio.

My friend has confirmed that he will still be considering the Xenon, perhaps sometime later - I think he is expecting a price drop.

Trust me, he does know what he wants and how the vehicle fits his requirements.

i doubt if it will make sales in india, for export market it will do well, cause thats what it was made for!

I don't think Tata ever expects it to sell in volumes like the Sumo since the market segment is limited for a pricey lifestyle pick up. But I am glad they did launch it in the market since it gives atleast two options in this segment. The Getaway and Xenon.

from what i have heard is that XENON is mainly aimed at export markets like africa, south america, europe and east asian countries like Thailand which is the biggest user country of double cabin pickups.

so tata and mm will delivery their xenon and getaway in india only on orders rather than bigger sale voulmes.

The pickup is looking very good in black. The michelins are most probably after market.

Yes they are aftermarket as the OE is 205R16 with profile not written on them. I went to the showroom yesterday and was perplexed by the tyres as they don't have profile written on them. The tyres are marked as Tubeless Radials with 6 Ply Ratings. I always thought ply ratings were associated with Nylon Tyres and not with radials, correct me if I'm wrong.

Can anyone please shed some light on this and educate

The owners manual for 4X4 vehicle show 215/75 R16 as tyres size and for 4X2 205 R 16.
So two different sizes for the vehicle. Need to confirm, will do that when I go for at test drive.

Yeah saw that on the owners manual. Tyres are also blank, just says 205R16.

Got this info from Dunlop UK website.
The 205R16 are OE fitment for Hilux. the dimension given are as follows.
Possible rim size: 5.5J -6.5J
Maximum service width /diameter: 214/746
static radius +2% : 335
circumference +1.5% /-2.5% : 2230
approximately 29" rolling diameter [info from another site]
So basically these are Uk spec tyre. I have never seen such spec even on commercial tyres in India.

Just calculated the aspect ratio : 80 . So the tyre size is 205/80 R16 for the 4X2 xenon.
