Thanks Kedar- I have been speaking with Santosh who I believe is the sales manager at JMD. Is Poonam a higher authority?
I have given him the booking deposit of 2 lakhs today. Was told that car will be invoiced around the 27th and reach them by Aug 1st.
Have pressured him to stick by the date, will continue to keep the pressure on.

Nice machines you guys own.
Does A4 has so many gadget as Laura or Superb?pls confirm.

@Sahil - Congratulations on your booking. White looks quite good. Hope you will have great time with this machine.

I didn't go with the petrol mainly due to resale concerns. Plus the FE factor. For the 1500 kms I have covered in my Superb 2.0 TDI so far (almost all short city drives, 100% AC) the FE seems to be settling at around 8.4 km/l. It started with around 6.0 but increased gradually with odo. Mind you this is after the chipping (I guess without chip it could be a bit higher as I wouldn't floor it that often :D)

ARAI figures for fuel economy are 13.5 kmpl - if you are getting 4.5, something can't be right here.

Another thought struck me - the on board computer is calliberated also for litres/100 km. Perhaps...

Ccongrats Sahil on your booking. I have TD'ed the 1.8 TSi Superb and it is indeed one heck of a machine.

Do post the pictures and initial ownership review when you get the delivery.

@Akki_5 : How long is the waiting period on the 1.8 Petrol?
I just checked with a few Skoda dealerships to make a booking and they said 2-3 months !

hey sorry for the late reply
as per JMD it is 6-8 wks
as per AutoBahn it is 3 months
i didnt ask AutoGraph as i was told that they are shutting shop soon
waiting period was the primary reason behind buying a Laura against the Superb
hope this helps

@ Sahil- white is a pretty good color for the Superb. Though the FE of 1.8 does have some issues; ARAI claims 13.5 kmpl on highway but a friend of mine (coincidently a white 1.8) gets about 10.4 kmpl with pretty decent driving.
City driving returns about 5 kmpl which is a valley compared to the 10 kmpl claimed by ARAI. :deadhorse
but then again, Skoda claimed 10-11 kmpl for Laura 1.9 TDI city driving while i manage only 8-9 kmpl even though i havent started flooring it yet
Lastly, CONGRATS on the superb buy!

Sorry all, I mistyped. My onboard computer states FE at 8.4 kmpl.

Prof.

I also messed up the link in my post. Repeated below:

@BoringProf: 8.4kmpl is good for a car of that size and league. The accord gives less than 6. But don't go buy the on board figures, do the traditional tankful to tankful method for exact figures.
Are these figures in city traffic with AC?

I spotted a maroon Skoda Superb near dairy circle, and boy it surely was superb.

Indeed it is. The length doesn't spoil the design at all. Its really a looker.

Hey Prof Congratulations on your new Superb. I know i am very late but I just took a delivery of a wine red Superb 1.8 TSI on 29th July.
It is a beautiful car isn't it? But i would like to mention something that the dealer has done the same mistake on the number plate of my car as well.
It was annoying but anyways had to let it go. I might get the digital stamped number plate, which is going to be compulsory for all the cars at least in Maharashtra, as far as i know about it.

Congrats punk! Which dealership did you get it from and how long was the wait?

I got my car's engine and chassis number today, dealer claims the car would reach him this evening. Hoping for delivery by Wednesday, fingers crossed!

Hey I was looking at Skoda's website and they claim that the V6 has a ground clearance of only 139mm as opposed to 158mm of the others. But the suspension for both is identical and the V6 rides on bigger wheels. How is this so?

The suspension geometry may be the same, but the car can be lowered with different springs. This gives the car better dynamics at high speeds. The four wheel drive system may also be responsible for the lower GC.
