Nice pick boring prof. Suddenly you don’t sound bored anymore.

The interiors of this car, the level of equipment and the price at which it trades helped pop my eyes. Am trying to put them back into their sockets after looking at the display quality.

Amazing vehicle with space to keep a whole planet in the back foot well. All in all best purchase in the bracket today.

Congratulations and have a lot of satisfying miles.

hey Prof,I am getting the delivery on wednesday,Please tell me what is the checklist I should follow?like do they provide spare emergency xenon bulbs(altis do give em)and matting, mudflaps, set of keys,is the 5th tyre an alloy?

Spoke to dealer. He said Bluetooth needs activation at Workshop and will take 2-3 hours. Lets see what happens when I send the car in next week.

As far as a checklist is concerned-

- I only got rear mudflaps, alloy spare, toolkit and... (wait I better go back, check and revert with a full list)
- The dealer said that front mudflaps etc are on the way, hence could not put them on. I am gonna try and ensure he doesnt charge for these.

And why does Bluetooth activation require work in the workshop? Do look into it properly. It should have been done during PDI>

Its usually done by the VAG-COM.
2-3 hours is too much.
It should hardly take 2 minutes.

I thought corporates supposed to get some discounts, here the price for individuals is less than that for corporates on all locations.

Not sure if this was a dum question though...

Is it worth buying the diesel for 3.5 lakhs more?
Take that you have a running of around 1500 kms per month and keeping the car for 5 years fuel bill with a milage of 8 kpl for petrol=around 8400 per month=around 1 lakh per year=around 5 lakhs for 5 years
10 kpl for diesel=around 5000 per month=60000 per year=around 3 lakhs for 5 years

So you save 2 lakhs in 5 years with the diesel but the initial cost is 3.5 lakhs more at the end you loose 1.5 lakhs.
also i think with the diesel you will spend more on maintainence but when you sell the resale may be better for the diesel but how much?

Is it worth buying the 2.0 diesel or 1.8 petrol?

The taxes for registration of a Car or the name of a Corporate body are higher, hence the price difference.

Even in smaller cars where the price differential is about 1 lac to 1.25 lacs, diesel will make sense only if one has a running of 2000 Kms or more.

Because one has to factor in the cost of interest also on the additional price paid for the diesel. In the above calculation done by dockap, interest on 3.5 lacs @ 12% p.a. will be Rs 42,000/= per year or 2,10,000/= for 5 years. So in my opinion diesel does not make sense unless somebody wants to pay for the additional torque of diesel engine.

Skoda service rep:
"Mr Boring Prof, due to some unforeseen problems, we have had to replace your engine, transmission, HVAC, seats, interior fittings, exterior fittings, ICE, and other misc equipment, a list of which you can find in your bill. Thank you for dealing with Skoda sir, we always endeavor to provide the best service to you"

Boring Prof:
"Huh, I gave the car for getting my bluetooth system activated, what problems arose during the service ? "

" Sir actually the bluetooth is connected directly to the ECU, and as YOU didn't get it activated for so long, it shut down permanently, causing the ECU to go haywire.
As Skoda makes the most advanced cars in the world, everything from the engine, the gearbox, the ICE, HVAC etc is controlled by the ECU. Hence all the components malfunctioned."

"Ok OK I don't understand all that technical stuff, but thank god the car was still under warranty"

"About that sir, I have been meaning to talk to you. As it was YOU who didn't get the bluetooth system activated in time, as per page 1322 sec 53.3.21 A), the warranty on the car stands null and void. The expenses on the car will have to be borne by you. We have calculated an initial estimate and it will be somewhere close to Rs40lac only.
But as you are an esteemed skoda customer, we are willing to provide a 5% discount as a goodwill measure towards you"
