Another Punto in Town!! -- Pics on Page 2

I am Posting on behalf of my friend (who is the owner and tried to register in team-bhp 3 times and was not successful MODs pls help him)

FROM HERE I WILL ALLOW MY FRIEND TO POST

Hi Guys,

Here is a background story.

-On 22'nd June (after reading GTO's Review) after thorough TD by my other friend (we call him rally racer) We booked the Punto "Red, MJD, E+ on 22nd itself

-On TD we were promised the delivery on 15th. But the car was ready on 9th itself, but we went for the delivery on 10th and got the red beauty

-While delivery we thoroughly checked the vehicle for any probs and defects, but everything was fine and we were about to go for the paper work that time, we saw a black oil kind of substance near below the exhaust where our car was parked, then immediately we started the vehicle and reved it, and we noted that there was some kind of dark smoke and watery substance coming out of the exhaust

-We were scared and we showed the vehicle to the sales guy and he called the local service person, in 5 min everbody from the showroom was out, there were around 10 service and sales guys near the car. They couldn't figure out what the problem exactly was and they were giving some replies which were not convinsing.

-After few minutes, sales manager called a person and a guy with a nice punto T-shirt came to the spot. Acutually he came for a meeting with the TATA showroom from FIAT factory

-Then we had some verbal conversation (actually a nice fight) with the FIAT guy and we even told him we are canceling the booking, by this time we have taken enough photos of the situation, we said we will post all these pics on the team-bhp

-Then the FIAT guy told us that this is due to the water jet wash before delivery, these stupid TATA service guys have done something which made the water to enter the exhaust pipe while water wash, and the FIAT guy told us that this is the water and the Diesel exhaust coming out from the engine while we rev the vehicle at a higher rpm

-He also mentioned that we wont face any problem once after all the water has come out of the exhaust pipe

-We were somewhat convised by this and went ahead and took the vehicle, we ran it for around 15-30 minutes, then the problem was solved by the time we reached home

-For the past two days I am on the road with my red beauty and never seen that again

Hope it is true

Hi

I am not sure how can water enter the exhaust pipe

Interestingly I had a very similar problem ( too much of smoke from the exhaust pipe). We nailed it to a sticky EGR valve problem. This was due to the use of High Speed Diesel from Andhra Pradesh.

Please ensure that there isnt anything serious

Cheers

Congrats on the car.

I'm sorry to say but I'm not convinced about the black liquid out of the exhaust. Did you confirm that the liquid is not oil and is only water??

The MJD is turbocharged so there is a very small chance of the oil from the turbo out of the exhaust.

Please get this checked thoroughly.

Thanks all of you for the replies.

Vid, yes, we did check that we have put our hand near the exhaust, reved and confirmed it is not oil and just water and exhaust air. So we are cool and we dint see that problem after that in the past 2 days.
