Swift LDI - White Delivered

I had owned Indica XETA GLS done 10000kms in bangalore and highways.
Since I was not really happy with performance and poor A.S.S I wanted go for an upgrade and specifically diesel ones.

I checked out following options:

1. SWIFT DIESEL
2. GRANDE PUNTO
3. INDICA VISTA AURA

I was not keen on others because I wanted the FIAT built engine for its performance and reliability.

Took the test drives for all the cars mentioned above and narrowed down to SWIFT DIESEL.

In July 2009 booked SWIFT VDI WHITE in Kalyani & RNS. Tried the trick mentioned by one of the members to get the vehicle within 2 weeks. No one was ready. Minimum waiting period was around 2months. Not guaranteed.

After 2 days, got a call from Kalyani saying they have SWIFT VDI Copper color with 94000 accessories fitted. Ready for delivery. I was not keen on this.

RNS called up in 3days and told me that they have SWIFT LDI (WHITE/SILVER) ready for delivery. Immediately, checked out the vehicle and got it delivered on Aug 13.

Fitted following accessories extra:
1. Power Windows
2. Remote Locking - Xenos
3. Art Leather Seats
4. Customized Head Restraints for rear seats
5. Wheel Caps
6. Fog Lamps
7. Music System

During delivery, I got filled Shell Diesel (normal) full tank on Yeshwantpur road.

After 272 kms, I am facing some issues.

1. Cranking/knocking noise when I rev the engine > 40/50 speed
2. Initially front portion of the car vibrates/judders in first gear. After sometime, this issue is not seen.
3. Xenos Remote Locking works only within 3 feet range. If i want to lock > 4ft range the remote locking in the car does not respond.

Otherwise, I dont have any issues.
My car is just a week old. Planning to take to RNS to get it checked this weekend.

Please assist.

Congratz!

1) Use normal IOC diesel, the harshness and the pitter patter will come down. As the car gathers more kms the overall engine refinement will improve. Shell fuel and DDIS somehow are not good companions and tend to make the engine lil harsh

2) Is it when you release the clutch? If so try this, instead of using accelerator release the clutch in a smooth and swift fashion and then use accelerator to move on. Also you can ask the A.S.S to do a clutch bleed when you give for first service

3) This you will have to contact the Xenos guys since i havent used their product. Maybe they would want to check the antenna wire of the unit (ie if its equipped with one)

congratz for your new drive dude!
ull enjoy every moment with the swift and especially whwn the turbo kicks
the knocking that you mention is abnormal dude.
if you are lucky it could just be adulterated fuel.else you are looking at a faulty clutch.you could wait till you use up your first tank full, fill from another station and observe. If no change report the matter to MASS immediatly.

I have xenos system too.no such issues. In fact i can open and close my car from my 6th floor apartment as well.Must be some problem with the sensor.

did you get fog lamps and head restraints fitted from the dealer?
can you please let us know the price of the two?

Hey,

Thanks guys. Next time I will fill from the IOC Diesel.
I thought Shell Diesel was much better.

The front portion judder is solved by releasing the clutch smoothly as suggested by Jaggu. Takes time to get used to it. Should be fine.

Xenos: Will contact the Xenos support in Jayanagar 2nd block. And yes, its due to the sensors.

Accessories fittings from Sound Tracks in Basaveshawarnagar. Very good fitt and finish. After they fitted the rear head restraints, i was zapped. It looked much better than VDI. Will post the picture later tonight.

Cost of Front fog lamps: 4000
Cost of Head Restraints: 1800 (With detachable and height adjustment)

congratulations on your buy. I was owning a Indica GLS too with 15000kms and was sick and tired of performance and poor A.S.S.
I upgraded to DZire VDi and I guess you feel the same as I feel and we now know the difference

Here's my post.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...dzire-vdi.html

I guess we petroheads migrating to Diesel need to get used to Diesel Engines. It will surely be fine soon.

Please post your pictures.

Accessories fitted by Sound Tracks, Basaveshwaranagar.
Contact Nasir: 9845532986.

ICE setup:

Blaupunkt San Diego MP 27
Rear GTX93 Blaupunkt 150 W
Front JBL 150W
Not much invested for ICE.

I have reused the system used in my previous XETA.
Postponed the upgrade to year end.

Want to put alloys and spoiler this year.

I am not intending to fit tachometer. The fitting comes somewhere in the dashboard. It would look good.
Has anybody installed tachometer for their LDI?
Just want to know, do we need one?

BTW, Swift Diesel ROCKS!!

you can easily fit after market tachometers.
It would be fitted mostly on the top of the dash.It is useful to check the rpms at which the turbo kicks in.
I havent gone for it as it might void the warrenty and it requires expert hands to do it.But the more you drive the car you will get to know the general speed and acceleration required for the turbo to act.
plus if not fitted properly it might cause rattling too.

do the head restraints interfere in vision while reversing?

do get the A and B pillers blackened using vinyl tape.
it will give a sporty look to the car.
