I hope you plan to keep updating this thread with your after-sales experiences. 3 year AMC + 4 year warranty have your back covered.

You could have made a profit on VW's current offers. Take a loan at 4.xx% and invest your own money, even conservatively, at 8 - 10% returns.

In addition to the torque, it's that brilliant DSG which gives the Jetta / Laura quick 0 - 100 times. That slushbox makes far better use of the 103 horses than a manual / conventional auto.
Thanks GTO! I will keep updating this thread with my experiences with the car. With regards to taking a loan, well the 4.xx% advertised is a marketing gimmick ( trust me, I have been at the other end of deals as well ) Also, I come from a family that has had its roots in money lending ( being a Sindhi ) and as a principle, dad will never take a loan for anything, so we have always bought cars outright.

Yes the DSG gearbox is truly brilliant! It makes optimum use of every drop of power that the engine produces and even when using paddleshift, the upshifts and downshifts are very quick.

Congratulations! Its a great buy. I specially like the Seat wedges which feels like you fit into them and are the best while cornering, though i've just driven the manual. Excellent choice even though its from the same family as pointed out by GTO.

Cheers,

Congrats CLS. Great car but your carpets look pretty out of place. Perhaps you should get a plain set that will gel nicely in the all black interior. Otherwise, it looks just perfect.

hehe Mclaren, thats true. The car actually came with really high quality velour carpet matting. The cheap plastic mats you see are just there for the monsoon. And going by the useless monsoon we have had this year, they will be off soon!

Congrats on the car CLS_55_AMG.

Can you confirm which tyres are there on your Jetta? The Jetta used to come with Continental ContactSport tyres. These were stopped because they were soft compound and were noisy. I had heard that these were to be replaced by Continental PremiumContact.

In your case the pics look like you have Goodyear Eagle NCT5 tyres.

Yes you are correct. They are Goodyear Eagle NCT5's. Ive heard that the Continental's had superior grip though.

Welcome back to the forum Gautam and what better way than to post a report on your new car. The Jetta DSG is the definate choice in the Jetta lineup. The initial FE figures you posted are quite good and I'm sure they will go up as you munch up the kms. Nice colour too.

How about posting your dealership experience as well and something on the warranties as well?

Congratulations and happy motoring.

That's a lovely car. How about changing your avatar, and wearing the VW logo with pride!

Thank you sir. I have done the needful! Although it does look a little funny with CLS_55_AMG under it, but who cares! ( I had CLS_55_AMG because I used to work with a Mercedes-Benz dealership and had sold the first CLS 55 AMG in the country )

Thanks Dippy! Yes its been ages since I last posted anything. Been on the forum daily but just reading! ( Especially the Yeti Blogs! )

My experience with the dealership initially was pretty wierd but eventually things got sorted out.

It all started out in May, when we decided that it was time to upgrade. I had shortlisted the Jetta as one of my favourites and thats the first car we went to see. I had spoken to the guys at the Mumbai dealer, Presidential cars, and a visit to the showroom was scheduled for Sunday noon.

When I reached the showroom I was told that the demo car ( automatic ) was not available as it had gone for some event. ( Arrgghh!! - I didnt want to buy the manual at any cost ), but the manual was available. I drove the manual and found it to be alright. However, I wanted to drive the automatic too. They said they would send the car the next day at 11:00 am and we agreed.

Next morning, they sent the car. It was love at first sight! ( or should I say Love at first drive? ) I still took a good 2 weeks more to decide though as I didnt want to leave any option out. So we test-drove the Accord, Civic, Corolla Altis, Laura and Endeavour ( I have always wanted an SUV! but found it too big )

Finally, 2 weeks hence, we went to the showroom to book the car. What followed was something we had never expected. Lets call the sales guy Rahul ( dont want to use the real name )

Hey Rahul! How are you?
uhhh...umm....Im good sir. ( the guy seemed shocked to see me )
So, tell me, whats the delivery status on the Jetta automatic?
uhh..hmmm...within 15-20 days...dont worry ( dont WORRY?, why should I worry?? I am worried now, that youre telling me not to worry! )
Ok lets sit. I have brought a cheque of 1 lac as the booking amount.
uhh...Sir I need to tell you something
What??
I would advise you not to book this car ( Are you kidding me??? has your employer stopped paying you or something?? )
Why whats wrong?
Our dealership with VW has been terminated ( What the @#$$%$# )
So what now?
Volkswagen is appointing another dealer in Mumbai
Ok thanks anyways. Ill figure something out.

Luckily I remembered that one of my colleagues from DaimlerChrysler India was now with Volkswagen India. I spoke to her and she put me onto the Pune dealership. The Sales head there turned out to be another ex-colleague of mine. He ensured the process went off smoothly and I booked the car with them. I must say the service of Vidyut motors was very prompt.

Nice to see you took my hint: the avatar looks good.

What a strange thing with the dealer! Still, better that it happened before, rather than after, you gave your deposit!

Re: VW Jetta 1.9TDI Comfortline

Hi CLS,

Could you give an indication of the service costs of the Jetta ? Whats the average cost you incur on the annual / semi-annual trip to the service station.

Thanks.
