Hey thanks a lot for all your wishes - abhayshanu, Amartya, devdath, cool.aquarian, theragingbull, nairanupg, McLaren Rulez, arnabchak, arishi1, mnhegde, NutsNBolts.

The car is really good to drive and in last one day I have already clocked 130kms within mumbai.

I am ensuring that the car does not go beyond 2000rpm in the first 1000kms. I tried reading about the running in period in the manual but unable to find it. Can someone tell me what is the running in period restriction and for how many kms should I keep driving below 2000 rpm.

well with new engines, company does recommend to keep your speed around 2 to 2.5K for first 1000kms or so.also do keep varying your speed and dont drive for too long on one speed.
Congratulations on your italian ownership.colour looks cool and so is your idea of doing puja on paper and keeping it inside car.Enjoy.

Hi Guys,

Today when I had taken the car out, I noticed that the steering wheel is not centred properly, i.e it tilts a little towards left whne I drive straight, and if I keep the steering straight, the car would turn towards right (probably at 10degree angle).

Has anyone else faced this issue in their brand new punto??

Thanks

Congrats on your Punto !

There's no running in for the car, I had sent a mail to service@fiapl.com to confirm this - you can also send a mail to them. The only thing you'll find in the manual is to avoid hard braking in the first 500 km.

Show your car to the ASC for the steering alignment issue, they should be able to rectify it.

How come the Punto engine does not need a running in ? I thought all cars needed to be run in when they are brand new.

Shouldn't happen in a brand new vehicle. Get it checked with the after sales department.

SDP - are you sure about the email - it would be great if you could copy paste the entire body of the email that you received from Fiat, that way every one on the forum can benefit.

Hammerhead:- the main reason for me picking up the Emotion pack was the VFM that it gives along with the safety features that probably no other hatch in this price range provides. Also another reason was the Blue and Me, man it does help to have these kind of features in your car as you can then concentrate more on driving instead of your mobile phone.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your wishes, I will try and keep this thread updated for a long time now.

By the way all you punto gurus and diesel gurus out there, I have some questions for you and would appreciate if you could answer it for me
  • Which engine oil is used in Punto - synthetic or normal. IF synthetic, which is the brand. I read in the manual about selina but have never heard of this brand name before.
  • What is the ideal tyre pressure that you maintain for better FE (Only two people travel most of the time)
  • At how many kms should we change the OEM air filter to K&N filter and what type - conical, replacement or anything else.
  • Some point of time I am planning for the Petes box, what do you think is the ideal kms for such a mod.

Awaiting your replies.

Thanks all of you for your support.
