hey akshay,

I will surely mention the Facebook page to him & how that can be a ready reckoner for Ford when it comes to issues prevalent in their product.

Thanks for the suggestion.

back fire,
You did a good job for the fellow car owner. In fact all the companies are asking feed back in their website or you or we can find the mail ID in their support or service page. Once we take it to their notice, the companies will take care and squeeze the Service center people.

Thank you navan :)

One request I would like to put forward is for Ford India to acknowledge the engine stalling issue rather than let their A.S.S. dismiss it every time saying that it could not be reproduced in a test drive. The issue needs to be seriously dealt with and a solution proposed asap in the form of a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and owners called in to get it rectified. This should be more of a proactive step from Ford.

Point noted jayded, will take this up as one of the priority issues.

Good to know that Ford has taken note of your feedback. If I may suggest, please also direct Mr. Raja to this thread for a complete list of the issues that are faced by Figo owners, including that of the engine stalling.

Please let us know the outcome/attitude of Ford once you have spoken with them as well.

Will update the thread after I have spoken to Mr. Raja. However, I am going to highlight the fact that my feedback/concerns were not noted through the official support channel provided on their website.

Good work blackfire. Also nice to note a typical reply. I think it would be better to have the call with an existing Figo owner (especially guys who face engine stalling) with VP-Sales and pull VP-Service into the call.

Please do reiterate that Figo has to become a product of better quality. Also emphasize that VFM does not mean mediocre quality.

Thank you rgk. I also thought of this initially, let me see if I can get somebody who can give a first hand account of their experience at the Service Center.

Also can u ask why certain ford are charging the old costs for the new fog lamp kit . Case in point: Rajshree ford coimbatore. They insist they only have one kit - switch, wiring et al even though 2011 figos have all this already built in.

Can u also ask abt plans to open new dealerships in 2012. The existing coverage is poor and lack of competitions leads to the attitude prob in SC. Esp in tier 2/3 cities.

I will surely ask about the headlight issue. The problem w.r.t prices for fog lamps is a serious concern. Can you share the details of what were the exact differences in the old & the new kit along with the prices for both? If you can do that before tomorrow morning, I will be in a better position to discuss this with him.

@all: Guys, I am planning to have the call with this gentleman tomorrow some time. I have left the choice of timings for him, but I believe they should contact me some time in the first half itself. I request all my fellow Bhpians to help me identify a few key areas that can be highlighted in this brief call. I cannot guarantee or predict the outcome, neither can I ensure that all the issues would be covered, but I assure that I will do my best to drive home a point which is that Figo has issues, minor or major is a different question, but the product has issues & Ford needs to take that responsibility. Some issues I have listed are as follows:

1. Engine stalling
2. Headlight fogging
3. Ground clearance
4. Timing belt snapping - though I am personally aware of only one person who faced this issue & that's our Bhpian "desideep"
5. Fog lamp charges - case in point being Rajashree Coimbatore
6. Steering rack issues - again "desideep" seems to be having some problems, has any one else also faced such issues?

@anil: I was wondering if you would be interested in joining this call with me? As rgk suggested, it would be better if I can have a person who has faced this issue with me as they can explain the issue as well as the experience of dealing with SC in a much better way. In any case, I would still take this up & try to put across the message.

Drive safe every one.

1, 2, and 3 are specific to the Figo i think. The headlights are not sufficient for highway drives at night but i really dont think Ford would take this up. They would just say that they meet safety standards as per ARAI. Not sure if all have the fogging issue. Item 6 is common to all their cars. Large number of owners with the Ikon Fusion and Fiesta have had them changed under warranty.

I think the most disturbing and dangerous is the engine stalling due to its sheer unpredictability. This is one thing Ford needs to accept and do a voluntary call back for solutions. The fact that they still try to project this as a one off incident is disturbing. But then the fact that we have not been able to make a collective representation even after so many pages of discussion is astonishing.

What exactly is this issue with the steering rack? And would you be aware of how the response is from Ford SCs on this when reported?

Agreed.

But why can't we make a collective representation? Let's do it. I am sure most of us want that but somehow we haven't been able to find a way of achieving this collectivism yet. So let us all plan on something so that it is not just our individual issues but common issues that are given due importance by Ford.

Drive safe.

Thanks for your initiative. Steering rack was replaced in my car. When rotating the steering wheel end to end (right to left or vice versa) you get a "patak, patak" sound (this sound differs). Sometimes feel that your steering rotation cross a "step" or "groove" kind of feeling.

Yes. Fogging & Poor Headlights - Ford will not accept and try to convince as "one off cases" and as per Govt norms.

Engine stalling is the most critical and very risky if happens on open roads.
This issue has to be addressed by "recall mechanism" by Ford, calling all customers based on VIN details.

We need to collectively represent and take up with Ford even if some do not have engine stalling issues. I am ready to join the call, but luckily I have not faced stalling problem (touchwood) so far.

Jeez, looks like I missed the bus.

But Ford claims that it has resolved the issue of stalling engine and I am waiting for the parts and I do not have any complaints with the service center, I mean I have already taken them to the task :P

But then I am happy to join the call if it is still on. I will PM you my number.

A collective representation (well almost) was done before. I sent the list of all the users who had the issue, but I am sure they were not contacted, so may be we could discuss this.

And while we are at this, have a look at what Figo is capable of :)

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...arunachal.html

Another to the above list would be the noisy Brake pads that comes with the new car. I guess almost all them would have got it replaced during first service.

Gemi i would like to ask if the Steering rack fails so frequenlty what have you been doing as a ford owner, if i am not wrong you already have a ford rite apart from Figo.

I have a question:

I wanted to see where is the Front fog light wiring terminated, i am unable to find it. i wanted to fit a after market set of projectors in the car. but unable to figure out where are the connectors for the fogs, because as per my knowledge the wiring is already present in the car. you just have to get the Fogs from the dealer and get them fitted.

Did a search for this but didn't see any conclusive answers.

Is there an IR receiver on the ICE of the Figo? So that I can use a universal remote?

I have personally seen atleast 3 people visiting the a.s.s for a steering rack change with their cars under 25K km. I also remember reading a lot of these complaints on some Fusion thread. Our fusion has not given this issue till date.

I really dont know where the wires get terminated. Check around the cooant tank or under the dash.

Yes. Thats one we left out. Quite a large number of figo owners had/have this problem.

i would like to do the same - the company fogs are quite weak. Please let me know if you find more info. Btw, did you find any projectors that fit in the figo's fog lamp slot?

I had upgraded my headlamps to Osram 90/100. The lights are good but now facing a unique problem. Sometimes the beam focus resets to the lowest level - closest to the bumper, however it readjusts back after a while!!!! It bothering me quite a bit as I am planning to go on a 2K drive.

I got the same message too. Is this thread at assembly line?

It is co-bhpian and figopian btirthankar's TL. I think it has been put into assembly line once again!

He conquered difficult terrains on his Figo! And at the end of it all, Figo just had a ruptured oil sump, which is a negligible damage considering what he did! Will give a heads up once the thread becomes active again!

Thanks for sharing the insight into the steering rack issue mate. Under no circumstance should this component fail so early.

If I may suggest & I would request others to pitch in with their experience, how does it sound if we can all write a letter with the names & testimonies of all the affected people for such more serious issues like engine stalling & steering rack & send it over to Ford. And this does not have to stay limited to Ford India, we can send it to Ford America & the other regions as well. We can also copy Ford's competitors & auto journals in this but I believe that this should be left for subsequent stages.

Guys, please suggest if this looks like a suitable option, & I stress once again on a written letter, not email.

hey anil, well, ain't you lucky? :) I never recieved any call or email from any soul at Ford.

@all: I am planning to send out a reminder today afternoon as a follow-up, & would wait till the end of this week. If there is no response by Monday, then I am planning to raise it again with Michael & I hope he can then make something happen.

Thanks anil for doing that. Yes, as suggested above, lets discuss this. I have also shared something that can be done in my reply to rgk above.

@all: Once again, Figo owners, please suggest what you guys think about a collective effort to try & seek resolution to some critical & most relevant issues. Also please try to highlight some ways that you may think of to achieve it.

Drive safe all.

I think the ICE does not support IR.

The alignment get adjusted through a cable when you adjust the control inside the cabin. Take it to the shop first to check this before you head to the SC.
Where did you do it and what was the cost?.

Absolutely.
