As per ford 1st service does not need oil change but I am thinking I would go ahead and change oil during 1st service itself rather than having dirty oil inside. Any feedback?

It is normal to have black color for engine oil due to carbon/soot. Main criterion is that the oil should maintain its viscosity. Even if you were to drain out the oil and pour new oil, in a couple of days that will also go black.

You may change the oil in the first service and is probably gonna cost you 800bucks (yeah thts all!!!).. Not that it is required but then its not that costly so if that will give peace of mind then why not :D

Cheers

This should be possible. As far as I know, there is a pre-out in the head unit.

No mate, there is no Sub pre out in the default HU of the figo. My installer had to splice 2 rear speaker connections for the input to the Sub amplifier High level Inputs.

Our petrol figo just came back after its 3rd Paid service.
18,350KM

Total - Rs 7,740

They also replaced one of the rear Shock Absorber under warranty.

I was Charged Rs 1,526 for the basic servicing. Strangly the bill mentions
10,000KM Service 1.4 Diesel Figo.
Anyone other petrol figo owner completed the 3rd Service?

Could you post a breakup of the costs involved, since it feels a bit too much for a routine service. If I am not wrong, the 3rd service bill of the TDCi Figos hover around 4K, so how can a petrol be 7K unless you had some on-request additional jobs done?

EDIT: I just saw that you had mentioned you paid 1,526/- for the routine service, so I assume you had some other additional work requests/repairs.

Got mine done at 17K kms last Nov at Metro Ford, St Marks road. Bill amount came upto 4.4K including wheel balancing. I remember others posting that bill amount for the 3rd service to be between 3.5 to 5K.
Check your bill, did they do an interior shampoo wash, they tried selling that to me? :uncontrol

Thanks for the comments!

As for the A/C, I realized that my post wasn't too clear. I understand that the performance of the unit is stellar. My concern was reliability - I saw a couple of posts mentioning malfunctioning aircon units (in one case, less than a month after purchase). I just wanted to know if this problem is more widespread.

I dont think the problem is with the Aircon unit as such, but their have been problems with faulty thermostats. Its a minor issue.

There have also been a few odd reportings of leaking from compressor due to small stone pelting. These pelting had reportedly caused dents on the compressor.
I have also once experienced A/C ineffectiveness once in my period of ownership of 20 months. That time i discounted it to the driving conditions.

(Had been driving to Goa from Cochin non stop. Started off in the morning and when i was crossing Mangalore close to around 1400 hrs [after about 450 Kms of driving], the A/C effectiveness dropped drastically. The temperature outside was also quite high and dry. I switched off the A/C for an hour and then it started working fine after that. That incident never surfaced again)

No nothing Additional was done to push up the service cost.

Something called the Housing Torque FRT was replaced which costs 3,600 + 550 for Labour. This was billed additional to the service cost.

Break up of the Service cost

Air cleaner Filter - 279
Filter Engine OIL - 117
Housing Torque FRT - 3,166
Filter AC Fresh Air - 303
Engine OIL - 763
Shock Absorber Labour And Service - 0

Billable -
10,000KM Service 1.4 Diesel Figo 1526
Engine Beeding Remove and Install - 450
Consumables - 200

Labour Total - 2,176
Parts Total - 4,629

+ taxs + CESS + VAT
7,727

Just Wondering if the service cost for the Diesel and Petrol Figo are the same?

Got the service done at the same place. Do you drive a Petrol figo?
I strictly told them I do not want all these useless things done to the car .rl:
Wheel Balancing was not done, I plan to get this done outside the A.S.S

I'm in the market for a hatchback, and the Figo (diesel Titanium) is presently the front runner, mainly because it's super VFM. I had a couple of questions based on the reviews I've read so far -

1. Suspension - I understand that Ford has stiffened the suspension in newer Figos. Does the underbody still scrape speed breakers? (I live in B'lore!) I have had a terrible time with my Honda City there...

Mine is Sept 2011. I also live in Bangalore. I haven't scraped any speed breakers when the tyre pressure has been proper.

Low beams + fog has been sufficient for me. But I don't do much night driving, maybe 5%.

I am not aware of any persistent AC problems, apart from the faulty AC's 1 or 2 members have reported.

It has actually become smoother.

Fortunately, I haven't faced this problem, touchwood.

@Captain: What exactly is the "Housing Torque FRT" & Why this was not covered under warranty? I am also curious about "engine beeding."

Were you experiencing any problem/sound with the rear shock absorber which was changed?

Now what on earth is a Housing torque FRT?
I believe you should have questioned them about this and what was their reply? What was the issue with that part?
The routine service cost of a Diesel figo will be marginally more that that of the petrol sibling. Most people have reported around 3.5K for the 3rd servicing.

This was hanging at the service place. My second service costed 1630rs. Maybe the difference was because of the service tax in Hyderabad.

The Ford dealer in Pondicherry (MPL Ford) had called for a Free Service Camp for all their Figo customers this week (it runs from 4th April to the 7th) in view of Figo's second birthday. I got mine done today, and they seem to have done a good job. Has anyone else had this experience with your respective dealers?

Got my 20K service done at Delhi Ford, Vasant Kunj. I wanted to try out Delhi Ford, Vasant Kunj as I had heard some good reviews about them from this forum. But, sad to say that I was not too impressed by them. The SA, Rohit Kumar Chauhan tried to rip me off Rs. 1800/- for Engine decarbonization (3M).

Booked my service on Wednesday, for a Service on Friday. I was asked to reach by 10 AM. On Wednesday, I reached by 10 AM, but did not find my name in the booked cars. Neverthless, they did attend me when I told them that I did book my car for Service.

The SA, came and did the customary check of the car for scratches and all, and asked me if I had any specific complaints. But, I did not have any complaints, so I just asked him "what would be done in the 3rd paid service". I was told that the following things are done :

1. Air Filter change
2. Engine Oil Filter change
3. Engine Oil change
4. Engine Decarbonization
5. Washer Fluid top up

I asked, what about Brake Fluid and Cluctch Fluid?
His reply: "Yes, we replace Brake Fluid.

I asked, "Clutch fluid?"
He said, that is the same. (not really sure about it, so I took his word for it.)

I also, asked will they be changing the A/C cowl filter?
He said - 'No, we will just clean it.'

I told him that the Service Booklet clearly mentions that, it needs to be replaced. To which his reply was - "Service book mein to bahut kuch likha hota hai'. But, I insisted to get it changed.

I dint really enquire much about the decarbonization, as I thought this must have been part of the regular servicing and would not involve any extra costs.

He gave me an estimate of around 5200/- (which he did manually by cutting the computer generated estimate of 3400/-) Since there is the FIGO campaign going on right now, so he told me that this would go down, as I would get 15% discount on labour charges, wash fluid would be free and Engine Oil filter would be at 50% of the cost.

I was there all the time when they were doing the servicing. The mechanic changed the Air Filter, Engine Oil filter and Engine Oil and was ready to send the car along for washing when I enquired about the A/C Cowl filter. He said, it is not changed during service. When I insisted, another guy came and asked him to replace the filter as I was insisting on it. I am not sure what is he difference between an A/C cowl filter and a A/C wire mesh filter(which is recommended to be cleaned at every service, but no one ever cares about the cleaning part.) - but I guess what they replaced was the A/C wire mesh filter, because that was the only A/C filter they were aware of in the car.

When I got the bill, I was shocked to see that I was charged 1800/- for Engine Decarbonization. First of all I dont think they even did it, and 2nd why did he not tell me explicitly that he was charging me 1800/- for this? I asked the SA

Me: Is engine decarbonization part of the 3rd Service?
SA: Yes.
Me: Is it recommended by Ford?
SA: Yes.
Me: But, the Service book does not say so.
SA: But, Ford now recommends it.
Me: Why is it not in the service booklet then?
SA: Earlier it did not (when my service booklet was aparrently printed), now it does.
Me: *Shocked*
Me: They must have brought out some sort of a circular, or an email which you might have saying thay engine decarbonization needs to be done at 3rd service.
SA: 'Nahi sir, humein bol dete hain bas wo'
Me: *Even more chocked* You think I am a fool? They call you up one fine day and tell you to start doing engine decarboization of their cars at 20K service?
He was now aware that I was not going to take his argument of Ford asking them to do engine decarbonization. So he said, but Sir, Ford recommends 3M.
I was like "What are you telling me?" A little argument followed, and it did not take him more than 30 seconds to say that he would cancel the charges. Seeing that I was raising an alarm over their daylight robberry he was quick to revert the charges (aparrently for something they never even did).

All said and done, this was how the final bill looked like -
1. Super DOT 4Brake Fl (Qty - .500) - 270.76/-
2. Wash Fluid Pouch - 0/- (Free as part of the capaign)
3. Oil Filter - 162.84/- (after 50% discount as part of the campaign)
4. Air Filter - 245.10/-
5. Filter A/C Fresh AI - 160.91/-
6. Engine Oil 5W30 - 943.69/-
7. Labour - 1187/- (after 15% discount aspart of campaign)

Total Bill - Rs. 3432/-

I have a doubt - I am reall not sure if they ever did replace the Brake Fluid (all I saw them doing was topping up water in the Wash fluid container after filling it up with the wash fluid pouch) :(

I am disappointed, and I do not think it was worth going 20 Km for such shoddy work. I am an amateur when it comes to all the technical stuff about cars, so I do rely on them. Also, I do not think any Service center ever does the 'cleaning' part as mentioned in the Service booklet. I dont think they would ever clean the A/C wire mesh filter as mentioned in the booklet. They straight away replaced it when I asked them to. When it was the A/C cowl filter which needed to be replaced. Can someone point out the difference between the A/C wire mesh filter and A/C cowl filter so that I can be sure that Delhi ford guys were as amateur as I am ?

I would really like to know what this part is that was replaced and bumped up the service bill. If you minus that part and labor, the service charge is reasonable.

I tried Googling it, coudn't get any info becasue I am sure it is a term Ford or Metro Ford uses.

My Figo petrol is due for the third service as well in couple of months and I hope they dont add any unwanted part replacements in the bill since it is running a FFE and CAI.

Probably the first Figo here to have its ABS wiring gnawed at by a rat. The petrol Figo we own back home was promptly send to the free checkup camp soon after the ABS lamp started glowing.

Turns out that a rat has chewed up some part of the wiring harness. Since wires today are all bunched up into a flat strip, its difficult and unreliable to do a makeshift duct tape treatment.. As a result, the whole set of wires need to be changed. All this was explained by their service person on phone.

Cost: Rs. 4500/-

Quite an expensive rat that proved to be, but then I think of it, its the same amount the Sony guys asked for changing the lens of a 4 year old CD system. Reasonable price to pay for getting a safety feature back to life. Will get it fixed in the next service which is due in short time. The car is also used sparingly, something like 300 km in a month.
