I have a question related to this engine shuts down. Is it only for Figo or the Fiesta classic with the same engine also has the problem? One of my college has fiesta classic and said he is having the engine shut down issue. For him it is happening mostly in the initial 200 meters after start, not exactly during the down shift like Figo. His car is 2 years old and done around 40K now.

Is your friend's car a Duratorque or the Duratec (petrol)? There are few fiesta diesel owners who reported the same problem as the Figo under similar situation, not otherwise. So if the car dies while clutch is depressed, then it can be the same issue. Please check with him. And if it's the petrol, then it "could" be a bad ignition coil. We had a similar issue with our Santro and was diagnosed to be a faulty ignition coil which when replaced, solved the problem.

My Figo's engine sound has been becoming more prominent in the cabin over the past few weeks. This is post a 1200km+ highway trip with some amount of hill driving involved. It has done about 9.7k on the odo and is due for the second service. The sound is a groan noticeable at around 1800+ rpm. There is no noticeable loss of pickup or any other driving characteristic change.

Is this something normal for a car nearing its service schedule? Or should I be worried?

Got my second service done today at MPL Ford, Vadapalani.

Odometer: 9750 kms

The good news:
1) The engine sound is back to its refined self, post the oil change
2) The minor clutch pedal vibration that was reported is gone, guess thanks to the clutch bleeding that was done. I do feel it is a bit hard than before, but decided to wait and see if it stays that way - will take it back to the FASS then.
3) Head-lamp alignment done and the alignment is lot better than before. Observation is only based on wall-focus. Yet to take her on a spin in the night.
4) Was able to stay back and watch most of the servicing up close.

The bad news:
A few suspicious charges in the bill (Weights, balancing and alignment).

Here is the breakup:
Parts:
Gasket - 54.56
Wash Fluid Pouch - 53.14
Oil Filter - 327.60
Engine Oil - 1056.40
Weights 8 x 100 = 802
:Shockked:

Labour:
Wheel & Tyre balance - 2 x 245 = 490
Caster, Camber, Toe - Front - Check (Wheel Alignment) - 350
Service Tax on labour - 103.82

VAT - 332.66

Total => 3571/-

What are your thoughts?

yes, this cost is expected for 10000 service... Even marutis cost the same due to misc add ons at services at most places...

Figo's brakes I feel are bad above 100kmh. I had this close shave experience in which I braked hard from above 100 for a signal and the car did not even feel like it was slowing down! My confused reaction was to avoid crashing into the car in the front which had stopped at the signal, so I weaved the car left and then right which thankfully helped and slowed the car down.

The actual feeling was like stepping on the pedal and there no play in it. In these cases, lifting off and pressing the pedal will help.
Yes, when the car is loaded, it makes it even worse.

Does your car have ABS? Just guessing, but for folks (esp who are not used to ABS before) brakes may appear weak under hard braking. Obviously, one does not feel this in the day-to-day braking scenarios.

Also shifting to second from high speeds is definetly not recommended. It is also probably not the best way to stop a car quickly in a emergency condition.

Dude,I got the 10k service done at MPL Vadapalani for 2154 Rs. This was jan2013. I specifically asked them not to do the Wheel alignment. Note that the cost of service included engine bay polish which was 400 rs. So the actual service bill would have been 1700 rs odd.
Its always better to do the Alignment and balancing outside.

Note from the Team-BHP Support: Please quote ONLY the relevant bits of a post. Quoting an entire long message inconveniences our mobile users

Air filter was not changed ?

Its cheaper and better to get alignment and balancing done from outside.

No ABS. I dont think ABS Figo's have this issue of low braking since their discs are bigger.

Yes, a lesson learnt the hard way. Will stick on to external shops for WAB going forward.

The Air Filter change was not part of the advised schedule for 10K service. It was only cleaned. Will be changed at 20k service.

Hey Guys ,
My figo 1.4 has 48K on her ODO . I'm thinking of servicing it at Ignite,ECR as the A.S.S seem pretty inefficient to minor issues . I've read some awesome reviews about Ignite , and ive visited their premises too . Anyway ,some people said its wiser to do the 50K service at the A.S.S as its an Important one in a car's service schedule .What do you advice ?please:

People buying a new figo can exchange stuff from their existing car+goodies offered on the celebration pack from ford.
____________________
Existing car covers = 3k
Dealer Accessories=4k
Total = 7k

Celebration Pack price: Rs 23,150
Price of Existing covers+ Accessories offered=7k

New price = Rs 16,150.

Just put this up here incase someone decided to go for the pack as I did.

Noticed yesterday that the Headlights wont come On in my Figo. When I turned the rotary switch to Maximum right, only the parking Lights were On. Turned the rotary switch On-off multiple times and the Lights came back.

Again, while driving the Lights went off. Then I tried the High Beam and the lights were working just fine.

I am just suspecting a loose connection/wiring issue. Any suggestions/DIY tips before I visit the workshop?

Carwale.com reports that Ford’s Figo is being offered with a Start-Stop button and Keyless entry security system as a dealer add-on. The package carries a price of Rs. 30,000. The Start-Stop button is fitted below the key slot on the steering column (now covered). However, the system cannot be retrofitted on the Figo's base variant. Earlier reports had shown a demo Figo kitted with the Start-Stop button near the gearshift.

For safety purposes, the brake pedal must be pressed before starting the car. The package includes a new keyless entry security system with a vehicle tracker. The security system is capable of remotely shutting down the car in case of theft. There is also a panel (above the headlamp switch) that provides the ability to enter a security code, if the keyless remote is lost.

The Start-Stop button is awkwardly placed though, while the security code panel clearly gives the look & feel of an after-market system. The integration could have been done better.

Earlier this month, Ford launched a “Celebration Edition” of the Figo. It comes only in the Diamond White colour and includes GPS, reverse park assist, rear spoiler, seat covers and branded scuff plates. The Figo Celebration Edition Petrol starts at INR 415,999 and the Diesel retails at INR 515,999 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Just a note that the rental Ford Figo's that Zoom cars use in Bangalore have a tracking system as well. The system has been fitted at the Ford dealership.

I don't think this is the same since they still have the keys.

Check the fuses. If both are not wiring, the fuse might have blown. There is a fuse clip in the fuse box that you can use to remove the headlight fuse and check if it is blown.

Thanks, I'll check the fuses. I ruled that out because the lights were working intermittently. Will work for 5 minutes and then stop and start working again. I'll check anyways.

Apart from Vidyutji's suggestion, do check the holders. If there is any sort of drooping/movement of the bulbs, then it might be the holders. If not, it could be that the soldering done at the base of the holders to the car's electrical system might have loosened up and can cause your wire to have poor contact leading to the flickering/intermittent working of the lamp.

Regarding the keyless entry post earlier:

Called my dealer up, asked him if such a system might be available. He thought for a while and said it may be available but he cannot confirm the same.
