All Jazz'd up! :: Initial Ownership Report

Hello fellow BHPians,

After a month and a half or so of some painful waiting, we've finally taken delivery of our smashing Deep Sapphire Blue Honda Jazz!

Please click on this link if you haven't gone through my thread where we battled out every (Big) hatch in the market. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/hatchb...ce-no-bar.html

The car arrived at my dad's office last evening and half 'n hour later, we found ourselves in front of our Temple driving over some nice little lemons!

The car is fantastic to say the least! To start of with, this particular colour and this particular car go so well together, it's unbelievable! And our choice of factory wheels was a great idea me thinks!

The car comes with several accessories (Jazz Active Package) that consists of a few nice bits like fog lamps, aluminum pedals, etc. We'd also opted for leather seats and these smashing Modulo Wheels that are 12k a piece!

The drive is crisp and feels fantastic! The brakes bite well too! My only grouse is that it's a bit sluggish and could have packed more power (the City's 1.5 vtec mill perhaps?) Anyway, the car feels quite luxurious and the leather adds some class to the interior package. The faux aluminum dash-panels look nice IMO and the kick plates adds a dash of appeal as well!

+ Versatile and very well packaged
+ Looks like nothing else, honestly!
+ Very spacious and comfortable
+ Ride is next to the best
+ Perfect city car

- Could do with more power. The 1.5 City mill maybe?
- Doesn't feel as sturdy and as well put together as Fabia or Punto or Polo
- Lacks some crucial, decision-making features like climate control and driver's seat height adjust
- A tad expensive. Not the best value for money car out there.
- Tyres feel inadequate. Too narrow.. but I hate nitpicking!

EDIT: Sorry for posting low quality pictures. Will post better pictures next week!

Congrats ! I am curious on two fronts:

- How does the car behave over speed breakers? Is ride stiff or soft?
- Secondly take it to a spin on the highway and let us how is the experience? Do you seriously feel its underpowered? Or its just the figures of 1.2L engine spec?

No vinaydas, we opted for the faux carbon fibre finish on the dash. It's an optional extra.

Thank you!

- The ride is soft, but not as soft as the Civic's. It climbs speed-breakers much better than the Civic. But it doesn't feel as stable as its competition

- We should be doing a drive to Coorg or Mysore sometime soon and when we do, I will tell you about the performance. But in city limits, it feels just a bit quicker than the Santro. On paper, the Jazz outruns the Santro comfortably, but in the real World, the Santro feels just as nippy as the Jazz if not more!

Damn!! For a 1.2L i-VTEC engine delivering 90 PS thats a startling observation.

Congratulations, Suhaas. How much did the alloys cost you?

Initial few days after buying the car, I felt similarly, but soon realized that what you have to do is ensure that the rpm is above 2200 or thereabouts. So just downshift and press the pedal, and you will see that it is actually very peppy.

Let's hope that it happens! It would be great fun! But we're looking to run her in first before taking her out on long drives so it might take some time since it's going to be used only in the city. Our Santro had done only 30k in 6 years!

Thank you! That is faux carbon fibre and I personally love it!

It's roughly around 8.5 lakhs on the road in Bangalore. The accessories came up to 1.5 lakhs or so. Oh and yes, the 90 horses on paper doesn't seem to translate onto the road. But I haven't pushed her beyond 4k RPM as it is advised not to do so for the first thousand kilometers!

Thank you Krish! It would be nice to throw a party or at least treat you guys but my dad wouldn't approve. We will definitely meet up sometime tough!

Thank you Rajesh! Yup, it's a perfect fit! Glad to know that the pillar isn't as much of a hindrance as it looked to be! Why don't you walk down and check out the car one of these days, sometime in the evening perhaps?

Thank you akp!

The wheels cost around 12k a piece so that would be 60k for a set of 5! I know, that's expensive but I loved it and had to go for it! About the sluggish nature, I guess I'll have to wait for it to run-in!

Jazz looks great! 60K for alloys wow
Planning to put better rubber on those alloys ? You already spent 10 lakhs on this car - so I guess new tires are on their way!
Enjoy.

Congrats Suhaas! Lovely car. I love the alloys and especially the faux carbon fibre dash. Didn't know that was an option! Looks totally supercar-ish

That brings the total to about 10L. Very few people in this country would pay that much for a hatch. But I guess you had other priorities
