Stats:

1. Distance covered: 582 km
2. Average speed = 38 kmph
3. Fuel Efficiency = 12.9 kmpl (With very spirited driving)
4. Total reading on the ODO 1058 kms

Issues:

1. Some creaky whiny noises from the left side of the car but only on very bad bumpy roads.
2. The underbody scrapes on extremely big bumps unless you slow down to a crawl. This is with 4 heavy guys & luggage on board.
3. Feels a bit out of breath when climbing hills & you have to really work the gearbox juggling between 2nd & 3rd.
4. Gearshift is a bit notchy giving trouble slotting into 5th.
5. Need to put sunfilm asap. The sun blares down otherwise.
6. The goodyear tyres seem start to lose the plot much before the chassis givs up. Is a tyre upgrade recommended ?

No other issue otherwise. Extremely satisfied with the Grande.
- Super comfortable car. Lovely suspension.
- Close the windows and the cabin is very well insulated.
- Decent music system. Better than the Pioneer + JBL combo i put on my i10.
- Superb AC keeps you chilled. The car is my most comfortable place to sit in this extra hot Pune summer this year.

Tyre upgrade is recommended. Get XM1+ or Yoko S-Drives

Congratulations Sir!! Great buy!!

Seems you are liking the car very much, to the extent you tried Off-Roading. Feel bad for the car, its barely days old and you kinda send it to torture

Keep the posts coming.

The mileage story

Had to drive down to Hinjewadi today in Peak trafffic 6.30 pm.
Decided to go with a light right foot and see if my fuel efficiency improves.
Covered 33 kms in stop go kind of traffic.
Was upshifting as soon as possible, and trying to stay in 5th at more than 1000 rpm.
Had the Instant consumption meter ON to aid my driving.
Eked out a 16.2 kmpl efficiency.
Pretty impressed !

This is pretty neat. Trying to recreate test conditions

Btw, was this reading on Instant Consumption Meter or actual you got by calculating post re-fueling?

I got this on the MID.

Car Cleaned :

Meanwhile the car went for a well deserved wash and wax after her dusty journeys !
Found a very nice automated car wash centre.

( How to reach: From deep bunglow chowk , with your back to the toyota showroom, you wil see 3 roads.
Take the middle one.
Just before it connects with FC college road on the RHS is this wash centre)

Got the car washed, waxed & Interiors cleaned & wiped for 200 bucks.
Liked his automatic machine.
He claimed that Hyundai & Skoda showrooms also send their cars to him for washing

Scratches:

Also discovered to my chagrin 3 scratches on the LHS which are typical of the scratches renedered by naughty kids when they scratch the side of the car using a sharp object.

But quite thin.
So i expect i will get them rubbed off during 1st servicing.

Accessories:

Bought some timepass accessories for the car.
AmbiPur car perfume, Mobile phone charger, CD case.

Have to unt for good seat covers before the rains start !

Music

Have discovered that the system plays best music off a CD.
Music quality off the radio is understandably so so.
But i felt CDs sounded better than the USB drive ( Weird ! , but maybe the mp3s on my USB were encoded at a lower bitrate )

Have also set the equalizer to my preferred mode and that has made a huge differance to how the system sounds :-)

Rattles

Irritating sqeaks and rattles coming from the left hand side of the car.
Not noticable if you have the music running so not a big problem right now.
But will get these fixed in the 1st service.

1800 kms to go
