Thanks to excellent review by GTO followed by other initial ownership reports, my long search for ‘palace on wheels’ has been finally completed and now my garage has new ‘truck on wheels’ along with old but beautiful blue tortoise.

This white elephant is creation of India’s numero uno truck manufacturer and has Italian heart of 1.3 liters capacity.

Well .. Fine print in manual says 1.248 :-).
I know 13 is considered bad omen by many. But Et tu TATA!

Shameless Disclaimer : Similar checklist is present somewhere in team-bhp it self. But couldn’t remember who authored it. However just like our great hindi movie music composers I declare that this is just a inspiration and not a blatant pilferage
. :D

RDP, Congrats on your new possession. I hope you call it a "WHITE ELEPHANT" because of the colour & size of the car and not literally

Congrats RDP for that mighty Manza. Manza and Matiz side by side, interesting.:)

Congrats on the purchase, I can personally vouch for the "palace on wheels" (In as much as 7 L can buy :-))

I once had a white elephant and i used to call it so, because it was Big - AND very expensive to maintain.

I hope your White Elephant is only Big.

Congrats on your purchase friend, what was OTR price for your model ?

R.D.P, congrats on your White Palace with 6 Wheels.

Congrats on your elephant! Excellent write up. Sorry to say that the 'white elephant' title is misleading.

Ten years ago I purchased blue Matiz. It was (and for me still is) worlds most beautiful small car. I am very happy with car, with stunning average around 18Kmpl and highway stability around 100 kmph Matiz is really neighbors envy and owners pride.

However mom was never happy with my selection of small car.

For her small car was equivalent of phatphati or auto rickshaw. Mom always wanted to see me in big vehicle like SUV or sedan.
With her troubling knee, ingress in small matiz is becoming problematic now a days.

Somehow I was never attracted towards sedan. Driving in bumper to bumper traffic and maneuvering in sadar (old town) is real pain with sedan. ‘Sari khudai ek taraf….’ (Brother in law) owns Indigo, so I know it what a pain to drive sedan in Sadar.

I always wanted a hatchback which is as feature rich as sedan but without boot. I was ready to pay around 6 – 8 L Rupees for a super hatchback which doesn’t have boot but all features of a sedan. Somehow I used to wonder why no manufacturer is coming out with such a hatch back. It was 2-3 years back when there were no super hatchbacks in India except I guess Fabia

‘Sari khudai ek taraf….’ explained me once …
”Jiju hatch back market is price driven and sedan is value driven , so hatchback market will always be mass market with thin margins. Everybody competing at cutthroat prices and sedan will be always niche one with high margins low volumes, don’t expect feature rich hatchback”

But introduction of Jazz changed scenario.

It was before I knew existence of team-bhp.
Zigwheels review of Jazz convinced me that it’s the car I was looking for.

I was ready to pay extra premium, despite all over attack on Honda by experts and consumers for the price.

I wanted city vehicle.

Comfortable, niggle free and will keep by blood pressure low in bumper to bumper traffic with all luxuries of sedan.

Jazz was Gods creation to satisfy my needs. No other super hatch (Punto, I20, Fabia etc) could impress me the way Jazz did.

One evening on dinner table I announced
“Our next car will be Jazz.
We will have Deep Blue Jazz along with sky blue Matiz soon.”

And there was revolt.. Total revolt…

Mom, Better Half, kids all wanted a perfect sedan.

Kids were worried about there image in friend circle , feared what all taunts they will have to listen in school.
My Better Half.. true Indian traditional lady worried about my image in my friend circle, in my office.
Mom minced no words to pulverize the decision of buying phatphati/auto rickshaw once again...

‘Sari Kudhai ek taraf…’ added fuel in fire on weekend visit. “Jiju… you need a sedan now, kids are growing”

But it was a storm in soup bowl

I wasn’t worried about rebellion. I knew every body will love Jazz .

Importantly I was the one who had keys of cashbox. My decision was final..
At least at that point of time. ..

Both 18Kmpl and highway stability around 100 kmph numbers are without AC in Matiz.

Turn on the AC, and enjoy the feeling of driving the submarine at the bottom of Pacific ocean. If you start from guragon, your will reach to Jaipur before car crosses 100 kmph mark, FE drops down to 12.

Congrats!
Is it the Aura Abs model in quadrajet?

Intriguing Jazz to Manza twist. Saari khudai ek taraf... couldn't have been happier.

Many congrats R.D.P. Manza really looks impressive and comes equipped with decent interiors as well. Excellent and practical choice mate. And i really like the 'sari khudai ek taraf' term you have used for your bro in law :-D

You have a way with words. Enjoyed reading your experience, please continue.
