Thanks classicselva for the sheet & such an enthusiastic review:thumbs up.

Wish me luck as i am also on the verge of finalizing between i20 asta crdi or GP MJD 90 Hp after a final test drive with my parents tomorrow, as they have to be comfortable in the rear. thats one sure deciding factor.

On quick question. I observed from the sheet that your daily running is not more than 60-80 Km. Does the diesel still work out as a better option. Even my running is not going to be as high as that. Do you feel i should stick to 1.2 kappa or 1.4 GP.

T-Rex, Both are grt cars. So you will select best among the grt..

Regarding Diesel selection
1. I am forecasting more run in the near future with frequent trips and family getting big.
2. In i20, Diesel is more powerful and you will enjoy driving it at the turbo.. i like it. It may differ person to person.
3. from my past experiance, i have owned petrol (Zen) and diesel (Accent) cars and i liked the diesel one.

No other logic than this. Enjoy and confirm what you are selecting.

+1 to that!! I do agree with all your points, also the one about new showrooms. It is best that we avoid becoming guinea pigs for them.
A few others have gone in in for the diesel due to power issues in the petrol.
Thanks for the XLS. I hope to make up my mind soon, at least on the type of car I want o buy. Currently I am looking at everything from a Figo to a Vento stupid: - unable to decide on the segment, as I have done no driving since the last few years. I hope that my driving pattern estimates will be right!!

Team, A quick update at 4200 Km of ODO.

Care turning smooth at 1500Kms but, now the engine is becoming louder. And drive not that smoot when it was at 1500 - 2500 Kms.

Other observation: When driving with OUT A/C or fan, i can feel hot air coming in under steering.

Below is my Fuel tracker.

Express Hyundai @ Sholiganallur.

V3 Hyundai insists that it doesn't exist!

Gotta try convincing them more!

Have you changed the seat covers yet? I shall be taking delivery tomorrow, and want to fit covers before getting the vehicle home, two dogs who will want to go for a ride!

It took some effort to convince the dealer that part exist. I printed the images posted by wildon and asked them to check with Hyundai. It took a week to identify the part..
I am sticking to the freebie seat cover offered. Planning to switch over to leather soon.
Congrats, Have a safe and happy driving.

Have you done any long drives? How was the experience with regards to
1. Boot space
2. Suspensions and GC? Is there any change of the same with respect to the petrol I20?

Done couple of visits to my home town 400+ Kms oneway (Total of 1500 Kms)

My experiance:
1. On long drives, ends up at overall mileage of 17-18Kms with full A/C on and 90-110 Kmph.
2. I can feel the turbo lag more than my Accent CRDi..

To your questions:
1. Bootspace is big enough and is well designed to accomodate more. Have made full use of it always.
2. Suspension is good, i guess with the weight on boot, it was smooth enough.

i called Hyundai dealers in thane, vashi and khar, only got hold of someone in khar dealership, he told me price for asta diesel is about 8.06L in mumbai and waiting period is 3-4 months!

isn't it readily available yet?

edit: also no i20 diesel test drive vehicle available anywhere, i have filled test drive request form on their web site though. also just received call from VW dealership in thane, he said trend-line version of vento diesel is available with them and they can deliver car in 15 days, i insisted on high-line availability which he claimed will only be delivered after feb 2011.

I had a similar experience when I called Pramukh Hyundai in Prabhadevi.
They said they don't have cars for test drive, when I asked him how do they expect me to buy a Rs.8,70,000 (company registration) car without test driving it, he tells me,
"Sir, the car is selling in such high numbers there is no need to test drive the car"

Do these salesmen have absolutely no training on how to handle customers? :Frustrati

today got call from Hyundai call center and I told him my nearest location. Went to Modi Hyundai showroom in thane for test drive however, test drive vehicle stopped in middle of test drive and refused to start, it probably had no diesel (at least that's what sales guy told me). Will test drive some other time.

btw, on road price for top end model (asta crdi) is very high (8.22L on road) and sales guy/girl offered me no freebies as there is 3 months waiting period for vehicle.

i found interiors of i20 car acceptable and engine was more responsive when compared to VW polo. However, I felt VW POLO was little better car for city driving as engine noise was less in polo vs i20.

Hello Team,

A quick update at 12K Kms, by 9 Months

Couple of scratches here and there in Chennai traffic.
Did full floor mat for Rs 3,500/-. Which i feel is a good one with a kid of 6 years.

No issues with the car and handling.
Engine is bit loud till it reaches the optimal temperature.

Overall mileage is 16.48Km/L. 50 % city and 50% highway.
Any improvement tips on that would help.

Hows the AC? You should have experienced the Chennai summer by now right?

A friend wants to get i20 but doubts about its AC part.
