Alto Lxi 2008

After more than a year of falling in love with teambhp and all thing petrol driven here I am.

It started with me wanting a bike, a bullet, but me parents wouldn't allow it( that dream still lives on).
1 year down the line of hunting for a bullet and almost buying one, this is what I land up with an Alto Lxi - 2 extra wheels !!

My miserliness usually gets the better of me and this time was no different.
SO instead of buying a new vehicle I hunted for a used one. Even though almost every said buy a new car - its just 1 lakh more.

"What 1 lakh more ??? are you nuts ??"

Criteria was high.

Had to be in mint condition ( preferably within the warranty period)
Single owner vehicle
Owner should not be a muppet.
Price had to be justifiable.

So essentially what I wanted was new car at a second hand price

A new car once its out of the show room its prices drops asymmetrically, to the value.

A mean what can go wrong in a few months, If you check it throughly its just like new. Yet the price comes down a significant bit for psychological reasons.

Thats enough of me justifying my thrift

After checking out several cars mainly Zens and Altos and missing quite a few deals. Because most of these mint condition cars get bought pretty soon.

This is what I landed up with

Alto Lxi 2008, white
Km's done 7500
3rd Free service pending it was within 10000 kms.
Owner was a NRI who bought the car for a brief period and now his brother was 'keep it running'
Priceeeeee (the sad part) : 2.4 lakhs.

I have a few mods in mind.lets see will keep you "posted"

About the buying experience - It was not pleasant.

The owner was a NRI from Bandra. Who was hear to tie up loose ends and then go back to the gulf. He was selling his car, renting out 1 flat.

The non pleasant part was I caught him in many lies.

Like after I went to his place to buy it with me cheque he said he wanted 5 cheques with the amount broken down.

I agreed an went back home to get em. By chance I checked the net and lo and behold he had increased the price on the ad. This after -
we had agreed that the car is now mine (Gentlemans promise).

And there were alot of titty bitty lies here and there. If the car was not so good I would have looked the other way.

Anyway I had a RTO agent check out the paper work - only when it was all clear. Closed the deal with 5 bankers cheques and that was that.

Only now I am 100% happy that the transfer is complete too.

BTW the ex-owner claimed to be marketing manager for Audi Porsche & WV. in the GULF

Congratulations on the car! Please note that Team-BHP does not permit booking / buying experience threads in the Test-Drives section anymore. For the benefit of members & guests alike, it is now imperative to include a complete driving / ownership report on your car.

This thread is temporarily closed. Please PM me or report this post once you are ready to update this thread with a complete driving report; that's when it shall be re-opened. Thanks for your support.
