this is a 5* thread PJB. Nice one. I'm missing Pune and it's surroundings. Your pics brought back a lot of nostalgia!

Re: 2011 Monsoon Trips: Hadshi (Temple, Lotus Flowers, Paddy Fields, Rolling Green Hi

Thanks MX6 and CL for your appreciation.

Now coming to my own question about the difference between lotus flowers and water lilies - lotus flowers have shorter and broader petals whereas water lilies have long and slender petals. So among the images I posted, some are of lotus flowers and the others are of water lilies.

Thanks R2D2. Now and soon after the monsoons would be a good time to visit the Hadshi temple.

Biju, just a question : Are these pics still clicked with your Lumix LX5 P&S camera (IIRC)?
Great set of pics. I must visit this really soon, before the monsoons are over!

Yes Ojas. These are clicked with the LX5. You have a good memory. For some of the shots, the film mode is set to Vivid to get more saturated colors. I am now getting two additional batteries and a Hoya 3-stop ND filter for this camera. The LX5 cannot go beyond f/8 which I missed while trying to shoot some streams and waterfall. Hopefully the ND filter will be of help in such situations.

Re: 2011 Monsoon Trips: Hadshi (Temple, Lotus Flowers, Paddy Fields, Rolling Green Hi

Last weekend we made a trip to the Hadshi temple.

The road was ok till a few kms just before Girivan. But a stretch of about 4 km (seems more like 40) is horrible to say the least. This part has exposed "dabar" throughout and is definitely not good for the tyres. To make it worse stones have been piled up a couple of feet high on bith sides of the already narrow road. Max speed on this stretch is about 20. If there is any oncoming vehicle, you would have to find a gap in the heaps to pull over and let the other guy cross.

I guess there is some roadwork going on, so I hope this stretch is laid soon. Till then, I dont think I would be making another trip here.

I went back to Hadshi. No, not during this monsoon. The pictures are from 2012 monsoon. Reminds me that I need to go there this monsoon too.

In our "gang", we always try to start a monsoon by a visit to Hadshi to 1) pray for a good monsoon ahead and 2) to have the tasty pakoras!
One of the pics from my monsoon trip.

Re: 2011 Monsoon Trips: Hadshi (Temple, Lotus Flowers, Paddy Fields, Rolling Green Hi

Superb photographs, it does full justice to the beauty of the place.

I have been to Hadshi couple of times, the last been there in May 2013. The road taken was Chandani Chowk-Bhugaon-Pirangut-Paul Stand-Right Turn-Girivan-Hadshi

The roads are laid properly now (from Paud onward), though are narrow, but are smoother and completely tar roads. This should not trouble vehicles generally speaking, however drivers be aware of recklessly driven loaded trucks and passenger carrying traxs.
