Re: Once Upon A Rainy Day In Mumbai, In Love of my NOMAD (RD350)

I see the senior member in your group, hats off to his enthusiasm.
Looking forward to see the pic of 45 degree slope that you mentioned while we were at kaas.

Re: Once Upon A Rainy Day In Mumbai, In Love of my NOMAD (RD350)

@Ashish,

Yes, he is senior enough and will soon enjoy 'senior citizenship' merits.
He's been avid biker since the time, there was no roadside assistance or the roads were not even developed. He has driven car from Goa to Mumbai without clutch those days.
Still, it is a Jinx with him and on almost every trip whatever happens, his clutch lever breaks and at times he rode back without one.

Also, his speedometer keeps showing 110 - 140kmph often on highways and open roads in city.

Further down here is one of the first slopes (notice the water coming from waterfall flowing down over road).

Re: Once Upon A Rainy Day In Mumbai, In Love of my NOMAD (RD350)

So with this video here is further ride-culous events.

While we were shooting the upcoming RDs on sharp turn with flowing water, our senior member lost the momentum (which was very much needed here) and fell down.
Results: as talked about Jinx earlier, half clutch lever broke. Next was to go back town and get it fixed or move ahead.

What do we have here...?

Muddy water flowing from narrow stream onto the road/slope making it further hard to climb

The turn where it all happened

We locked and parked the bike aside and went with senior member as a pillion.

The way became more narrow and filled with shrubs and monsoon outgrowths constantly hitting our helmet visor.

Finally, today's destination

Mission accomplished.
Relaxed, content and Nirvana achieved we started our journey back to home.

Departed and said adios to everyone at Panvel

Drove back through lunar surface towards my home and admired NOMAD being back in action.

@Abhi - Great pics.

I guess the gang ended up with non RD members as well. I could have joined in with my Boxer.

Just curious. How did the senior guy reach home with the broken clutch lever? That must have been quite a task.

Re: Once Upon A Rainy Day In Mumbai, In Love of my NOMAD (RD350)

They both (Karizma and RX) have RDs.
However, Karizma was out for testing as recently ported and modified a lot considering engine part
The Rx was just back from Leh expedition 2 days back from trip date and is due to be recorded into Limca book of records for taking a handicapped person to Leh.

But yes, as it just needs the zeal, you are most welcome with your Boxer.
As for senior guy, he being habitual of driving without clutch managed to come down through ghat and upon reaching Kamshet Highway we replaced broken with RX clutch.

The twist was that RX (Leh returned) came close to get seized somewhere near Khopoli. However, we managed to drive her slow and made it to home.

Maybe this Sun, 25th we ride upto Mathran

Few more videos for you to enjoy:

Thanks. You are being generous. I was just kidding. I don't think my bike is in shape for long rides. Sadly after the purchase of the car a couple of years back the bike has been more of a weekend ride for city chores. I think i should change that now.

Enjoy your Matheran ride and do post pics.

No kidding man. You can see my previous travelogues. In my group one of my friend has CD100 1989 and he was too not sure of doing those trips. After convincing him you will see him in all RD trips I had before.

....and the name is Silverado (currently running 'Nano in my life thread'), my ex-office mate and we were together once again @ Kaas this weekend with whole lot of TBHPians.

Now that is inspiring. Would love to join in. This Sunday or this year might not be possible because of personal constraints. But would keep a watch on your threads.
