Mount Rainier - Washington

The best description of Mount Rainier in a nut shell could not have been given better than this.
"The most luxuriant and the most extravagantly beautiful of all the alpine gardens I ever beheld in all my mountain-top wanderings" John Muir - 1889.

Mount Rainier is a stratovolcano. This beauty is also one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world and the heighest mountain in Wasington state. It is also the symbol of Washington state.

"One of the 16 volcanoes with the greatest likelihood of causing great loss of life and property if eruptive activity resumes" - Wiki.

Never mind these scary facts, this place attracts thousands every year.

This place has a bunch of waterfalls caused by melting ice.
Most of them are located deep inside the woods. Here are some of them encountered on the way.

While heading back we were stopped for speeding 17KM/hr over the max limit.
Lucky for having let go without getting a ticket.

The only animal encoutered.

Selfdrive, the trek could've easily been done if I had the permission of my Home Minister!!! So, we had to stick to walking a little up the hill only.
Thats one reason why I go trekking only when my wife in her native

These pics are all I have.

Re: Mount Rainier - Washington

@MohsinRoadster: I love Seattle a Lot . Its a wonderful place to stay (Although many people dont like it due to the rainy and gloomy weather in 10 months)
If you dont mind, I will post some pics of Mt Ranier tonight.
Fact: Mt Ranier peak is around 14000 feet and the base camp at Himalayas for Mt Everest trek is higher than that at 18000 feet.

Question: Sorry OT, but have you got a chance go and visit Ballard Locks? I want to see some pics of Salmon going upstream there.

Edit: Not just Seattle, but also Redmond, Puyallop and other places around are absolutely beautiful.

The weather has just begun to get gloomy here. Its cold, it pours, its dim etc.
But yeah overall seattle is a nice place. Havent been to Ballard yet.
I live very close to Redmond.

At the first look I thought you must have clicked Mt Rainier from Space Needle, Seattle.

May be we can catch up next time I come to Seattle which is mostly Dec/Jan. I would be staying in Downtown Seattle though. But travelling to Redmond must not be a problem. Man, Microsoft is everywhere in Redmond.

Could you please post pictures of the surrounding areas as well ? and not just limit this thread to Mount Rainier? Would be helpful for me to check out some of the areas as well.

Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, Costco, Rhapsody all started in Seattle.
Boeing's headquarters was also there earlier I guess ( Had a wonderful experience at their museum of flight). I can go on and on and on about Seattle
