Class leading pics SDP, thanks for them.

I wanted to visit Kaas this year for complete one day.
But my visit to Kaas was a hurried one and an after thought.

But thanks to your pics, i dont feel that anymore.

But i am sure all of us missed rain in Kaas this year, it would have been magical had it rained.

Thanks. The plateau would have bloomed more now and I am pretty sure you would see quite different colors and more varieties. Enjoy! Do share pics when you are back!

Thanks silverado. Although a bright sunny day is generally better for photography, even I wouldn't mind a few showers during the visit. There are very few trees on the plateau and it does get quite hot. Rain would provide the much needed relief and a wet perspective for another set of photos!

A fabulous place. Been there last year around Oct first week. BTW, the "opening soon" resort that you spotted, is maintaining the status quo since last year :-). We didn't get any place to stay in Satara. Finishing touches were going on this place. Some how convinced these guys to accomodate us for a night. There rooms were all done. The night view of the Satara valley was stunning. Was a very comfy stay, They even arranged for stay. I think they may not have got forest clearence.

The resort is called as 'Nivant'..which means 'leisurely'. The place is open this year. Based on last year's comment by -I guess- you, I did stop, made inquiries about tariff and reservations. They have just 12 rooms, but I guess all are valley facing. Definitely better than staying in the congested Satara city.

Drove to Bamnoli without clicking a single snap. Food was more important at that hour.

Had lunch at Hotel Santaji. Went to the boat-club counter to check for a ride to Dutta-mandir. He quoted 820Rs! Was not even ready to adjust us with some other family in a common boat. Felt like day-light robbery, walked away from the deal. Went to the owner of the Santaji hotel again and asked him if I can drive to the Dutta mandir instead and the road-condition. He said - Its just 8-9kms .. go ahead. So we took a route by the Krishnasagar lake to go to the Dutta mandir.

Visiting a Ganesh temple (minus the crowd) on Ganesh Chaturthi was a pleasant surprise for my wife.












Visited the underground Shiva temple as well.










Its 3:45PM. Time to head home.


Saw two Ganeshas while crawling through the city.

Joined NH4 at 5:15PM. Reached Mumbai at 9:00PM.
