Anandadhama - 70 km from Bangalore

Was looking for a break with family as after Gujrat trip we never got a chance to get out Bangalore. As wife works on Saturdays it is difficult to go anywhere over weekends but then the idea of Anandadham stuck me. I kept it under wrap for few days but could not make a complete surprise for wife as few more surprises came our way like a sudden notice of PTA for son on the same Saturday morning.
So, on Saturday after PTA, went to wife's work place (she works half a day) and started for Kanakpura ; we reached Anandadam around 4.00pm. The place was very quite as we were the only guest supposed to spend night there. They served us some snack around 5 and then left for coracle ride on river Cauvery. The ride was great as we spotted many birds ; but the best part was the complete silence which we enjoyed thoroughly.
Evening around 6ish electricity was resumed and we returned to our tent room. We were tired but the breeze from river was very refreshing. We had a big dinner and headed for bed early.
Sunday Morning we woke up and had coffee and after that we went for a 5KM walk to the Vedic School . It was walk via near by forest where termites have eaten the entire forest turning it to hollow trees. After walk we had a big breakfast and then we headed out for some more activities. Found archery a great sport to focus and forget about any thing around you. But I chickened out when tried to swing like Tarzan from the high platform. Wife was brave enough to give a try.
After that me and son went to the river for a quick dip. But the Sun was right on our head and we were forced to return to our tent. Son was too happy to continue playing with his new friend (our guide). There was no electricity as it went away around 10. After bath and lunch we took a short nap before leaving for home. We started around 4 PM and reached home around 7.
It was a very short break but very refreshing as the whole resort was ours and we had a lovely experience with the staff of Anandhadam.

Search "anandadhama" on the net for more details. The food is vegetarian and no alcohol/smoking is permitted.

I am sure you enjoyed the stay. You traveled by which car ? Include some pictures of your ride and also the route you followed. Anandadhama seems to be the 'go-to' place for people like you and me, who wish nothing more than peace and serine beauty. Do include further details. Does this place warrant a prior booking or is it okay to go there directly and find a cottage ?

@HorsPwr

Traveled in Swift d-zire. The place require prior booking as nearest big market area Kanakpura is 30+ KM away. More details are available at Anandadhama Website. We tarvelled via NICE road to Kanakpura road from West of Cord Road. And from there it is simple Kanakpura road past Arts of Living and etc. There is a left turn from Kanakpura to Sangama but the approach is really narrow, please pay attention for the same.

With summer it might be bit hot during afternoon and there was no electricity between 10 - 18 hours while we were there. So please check that part. more pictures are on my personal web sites.

Remembering the two day team building program attended / happened there few years ago with the entire office team. Nice place to spend the week ends. One can spend peaceful day / night.

when we visited this place four years ago, there was no mobile phone coverage also.

This place seems to be a good option for a weekend jaunt. Please let know more about the accomodation and the service. How much does it cost for a couple per night as the website just points to a contact number for tariff.

There are few types of accommodations. We paid 1750 per person so 3500 for a couple all meals and coffee/tea included for a tent house(non deluxe). Attached one of the tent/cottage.

Personally came to know about this from Oxfam trailwalk (100 km in 48 hrs) when this was starting point for all of us.

Re: Anandadhama - 70 km from Bangalore

Has anyone recently visited Anandadhama since some of us were planning to visit the place. Read some reviews in sites like tripadvisor which though was positive but average reviews. Hence wanted to know from our very own BHPians about this place in recent times.
