Day trip to Kaiwara near Bangalore Folks, this is basically an advisory, disguised as a travelouge. Last Sunday (5/27), a family of two drove to a place nearby Bangalore called Kaiwara / Kaivara. This is supposed to be a place of religious and historical significance. The distance is approx 60-70 kms from city, depending on where you start from.
Route from Hennur: As per attached file. Please note the alternate approach to Hoskote. The drive is beautiful with lots of mango tree estates, where you can get down and be within the mango fields.
The highway to Kaiwara is under construction. There are several diversions put up and you will find yourself driving on untarred roads with two-way traffic. Miserable indeed. Given this, I strongly suggest pushing your travel to this place by at least 6 months.
Once you reach the town, there is nothing much to see. The town is shabby and we quickly escaped to the rocky hills nearby. A private individual (with lots of resources) has carved the rocky mountains to host a couple of dieties. Excellent effort. Nice view from the elevated area and treats your eyes with the rocky landscape of this district. It was very sunny and heat was unbearable. With screaming kids, the problems compounded and we beat a hasty retreat to comfort of our homes. On the way we visited a park, supposed to be swarming with peacoks, rabbits and other things. We saw nothing. This park is avoidable at best.
Summary: This place may be of some interest to people who climb rocky mountains, but otherwise there is nothing much to see or do. Your energies and budgets are better spent elsewhere. Given the roads are under construction, I strongly suggest you to put off exploring this area of another six months (till 2012 year end). |
