Point Reyes National Seashore - A Photologue

We visited Point Reyes National Seashore last week. It’s a very popular tourist place just few miles north of San Francisco city in California. This park is famous for it’s hiking trails and stunning vistas of seashore and the mountains. I just wanted to share some photos from this mini-trip to the park, so it’s just a photologue rather than a detailed travelogue. I should probably visit it sometime early morning to capture it’s beauty in morning light.

Some photos have glass reflections as they were taken from behind car’s windshield.

On the way to the park...

The lighthouse. Stairs leading to the lighthouse were closed because of very high winds that day.

The place is really amazing. I plan to visit it again sometime this summer. There's so much more to see/do there.

Thanks ampere. We drove a friend's rental car, so didn't take any pics of the car.

You can find my ride's photos here -

One of the most amazing place. On a good, clear, weather permitting and lucky day, you can actually spot Whales from the lighthouse.

Did you manage to go to lighthouse or was it close for the day? When we went, the stairs were just fine but was very windy. The stairs are equal to 30 storied building. Excellent workout.

Did you go to Muir woods and beach on the way back? Its an awesome, must visit place too. And on the way back, you could have stopped on the Sausalito side to view the SF city and GGB.

The shoreline in 5th photo is my favorite spot. The view from there is classic and breath taking. I literally stopped in tracks when i saw this view. On a clear day, you can see miles and miles of that shoreline.

Re: Point Reyes National Seashore - A Photologue

I remember visiting this place. When I reached there, it was getting dark and cold and windy. I had to wear 2 jackets to keep me warm. I stayed to photograph sunset and by the time I had to return back to San Jose it was too late. There was no phone signal and I was alone. It was one of the scariest drive I've ever done.

However this place is so beautiful. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Ah I always have this on my list, but end up not going there. The place is so beautiful. I think there is an outlook from where you can get a good pic of the Lighthouse right?

Yeah. The lighthouse photo is taken from this outlook you mention.

It was closed for the day. The winds were too strong to go to lighthouse by the stairs. We had really difficult time there. We didn't have any windcheaters with any of us. I haven't experienced stronger winds than this.

No we didn't. We were running late to meet a friend in San Mateo.

Mine too along with the one of the house and fences. It looks very good at full size. You can check it out here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/ronakg/...ream/lightbox/

Thanks for sharing the pictures and bringing back memories. I try to visit this place whenever I am in the Bay Area, absoultely love the place. Time just seems to stand still at this place !!!

In the summer of 2005 and 2011 I along with a few friends were here and spotted a significant number of wahles here. But for that you need to get down to the light house

Is this the same place where a falls actually falls into the ocean? Alamera falls i guess.

The trek is actually a good trek to the falls and if you go early can spend the afternoon in the water.

Pretty good place.

Don't know about the fall. Need to find out about it, if such a fall exists.
