Robi, amazing set of pics man. Amazing composition and excellent clarity on each of the subject. The vertical composition just adds amazing mood to the images. Keep up the good work .

Slow but sure, slow but sure!
Yes air tickets are the most expensive part of a journey to South America. But the experience is brilliant with so many beautiful sights around. Its a nature lovers paradise, you should make a trip down there esp Brazil and Peru soon

We will love to see further images & detailed day wise report of this trip. Do you have any video clips? I will also request you to share the cost of the trip & some wildlife photography tips. Further how was the food in Brazil?
Thanks. I do have some video clips but need to edit and merge them before I can upload. As for the food it was almost always meat and fish. Apart from that wherever we went, there was only rice and beans. If you are a vegetarian, it will be very monotonous.

I have already mentioned in the first post that I was using canon DSLRs and lenses. One of my friend was using Nikon.

BTW, how did you manage to get the lens so close to the Scarlet Macaws?
Also, post some more piranha pics if you can.

Some of the scarlet macaws were quite used to people and they were coming closer to us after some point of time. Unfortunately, I dont have too many piranha fishing images. The experience was too exciting and one of my friends had a bad bite while trying to remove the fish hook.

Amazing pics again! The very fact that you take time, efforts and of course money to chase something that you enjoy doing is fabulous

I loved all the pictures, cannot really point out one. But a few stay in the mind;
- the stork silhouette
- anteater with its kid
- the jaguars
- the farmhouse that looks so inviting with the blue sky and the hammock

The toucan and scarlet macaw are really beautiful birds and it is great to see how you (your entire group) captured these pictures in such a non intrusive manner that the macaw especially was not scared to peep in the lens.
Great going, and I hope you are able to follow your dreams across other places for activities off the beaten tourist trail.

One of the best travelogues seen off late.
Wonder how jaguar could swim with Piranha around.

Brilliant images robi. Your photologue has added to trend of travelogues from countries less visited. Brazil though is always special

I absolutely loved the images of the Caiman shot with a part of head out of the water in what appears to taken around dusk, the macaws with the brilliant colors and the shot of the jaguar ready to leap into the water.

Looking forward to more images from your trip

Cheers

Stunning images. Excellent narration.
Some of the images viz., the Caiman: the angle you have shoot is superb. Again the Toucan portrait is just wow. The Giant Anteater picture is just out of the world, however, is it little out of focus?
Finally, being a cat lover, the Jaquar is just too good.

As you mentiond that you had eight sightings of Jaquar during two night stay. Is it normal at Pantanal or you were lucky? Otherwise, how is the sightings?

Thank you so much for sharing this brilliant piece.
Regards
Subrat

Thanks a lot. Being an amateur I really appreciate the feedback especially from non photographers. Photographers are often too busy with the technical details and are critical of the weirdest things in a image.
Most of the time I try to mix it up trying different compositions and techniques to create interesting images. Sometimes it works out while at times it falls flat.

The concept about Piranhas being fierce predators is misleading maybe like the movie which created a monster out of an anaconda. The locals even swam in the piranha infested water but no one has ever been devoured.

Thanks. Glad you like the Caiman image. A couple of more low angle Caiman shots for you,

Thanks. We had very poor light when we saw the Ant eaters and had to deal with very low shutter speeds, hence it might be a little blurry.

Though we had eight sightings, it should be 4/5 different jaguars. We did a lot of research as to where to stay and which guide to take etc. These along with a big dose of luck helped us with the sightings. Having said that, the Cuiaba river area in Patanal has a high density of jaguars and sighting is almost guaranteed if you spend a couple of nights.

Some more jaguar images to satisfy the cat attraction in you

Robi
You're too humble by half. Your photos are excellent. Worthy of Sanctuary Magazine or Nat Geo in my opinion.
The Toucan, the Caiman and the Jaguar...brilliant pics matey!
Send your article with these pics to Lonely Planet Mag and see if they don't publish it! It is far better than the bunkmatics that one generally reads as 'travelogue material' written by some half baked 'accidental tourist-journo' who has gone there on 'company account' and who has not done any research whatsoever...
Cheers.

Excellent set of pictures Robi. Capturing the birds in flight, with such an excellent quality is not something a newbie photographer can do. Being far away from anything related to photography, I dont know the technical aspects. But each picture is top class and you neednt describe them with words.

Noob question - Are the macaws so friendly to let you take a DSLR close to them? Thats really fantastic to see such close shots.
