khaadu,
just saw your video.
its nice.
who was driving? you or Uncle?

first bus pass was simply nothing, but the second bus on blind turn was quite adrenaline-pumping!

Hey Khaadu...

Amazing pics n breathtaking video...

I did a Himachal trip some months back Kasauli, Barog n Chail...I thought that was the limit but this seems to redefine the extreme limits.....

Can u pls tell me the location of this place??? Is it near Rohtang pass ???

I'm planning a road trip to Himachal...Places i've zeroed in are Kangda,Palampur n Khajjar......for peace, scenery n minimum tourism.....U being a native of that place your suggestions would be quite valuable....!!!!

A scary, challenging and yet beautiful drive.... a haunted house... free Red Label... awesome, khaadu.

Saw the video too.... ironically the first bus that passed was the one that had its right fender damaged!!

Waiting for more pics...

Hey KP, Sangla is just off the Hindustan Tibet Road ..... its about 270 kms beyond Simla . And Rohtang Pass is on the other side ... Open a map of HP and you will find teh route to Sangla ... !!!

Also ur road trip to Kangra, Palampur and Khajjar seems like an interesting route though I have never done it myself . As for Kasauli, Barog , etc ..... thats hardly the hills from any angle ... !!!

Hey, Now for a bit more into the trip !!

Well Day 2 when I woke up and stepped out into the garden to lay my eyes on ....

Stomachs growling ... heavy breakfast followed

after which we were scheduled to leave for Chitkul -- the last village before the China border, which is 26 kms upstream from Sangla . So off we go .. 30 min walk before we reach the car ..

Finally the drive to Chitkul ... following are random pics taken between sangla and Chitkul ..

Following is teh pic of Chitkul ... the last village and in the backdrop are the mountains where lies the Indo - China border . From here the supplies are taken on horses as there is no motorable road ahead

Maybe next summers we guys shud plan a High Altitude Meet ... with pro photographers like Rudra sir !!! Wat a job he wud have done with the same scenery, his expertise and his camera -- Rudra, Trust me I thought a lot about how u guys wud take pics if u were there .. Wish I cud take tips from you ..

More to follow .... later !!!

Cheers

Hey Khaadu..

Is the entire Hindustan Tibet highway - driveable on a Maruti Alto at this time of the year... Basically from Shimla - Rampur - Wangto - Nako- Tabo-Kaza-Kunzum La-Gramphu- Rohtang pass - manali .. Is Kunzum La & Rohtang pass open ? Are the roads do-able by a normal car - or a off roader /Sumo/Qualis/Scorpio is preferable ?

I remember last year there were huge floods in this area & lots of travellers were stranded

Lovely scenery Khaadu! And good photography too as far as I can tell. Now I am seriously thinking about the Manali trip that my friends are planning in the first week of July. Will take some tips from you when we meet.

Yes .. the entire stretch is driveable though it may not be as smooth as a highway . You will get stretches which are worse than a dirt track and have to be done very slowly and carefully so as not to damage the cars sump.

And yes its possible in an alto .. as for being possible in a normal car -- dunno wat ur definition pf a normal car is . And yes last year there were huge floods which did wash out a lot of stretches along the Satluj but roads have been re constructed and they are driveable. Also floods can happen anytime .. even this year ... !!!

You should take the trip to Manali though personally I feel Manali has been ruined over the years due to the unlimited commercialisation of the area . But around Manali there are a lot of places that offer virgin beauty ... ENJOY IT !!!

Cheers
