Re: Kashmir - Heaven, A Winter experience

RK sir, What pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!breathtaking........ I showed this travelogue to my 9 year old daughter, plans made for this winter to be in Kashmir. Although I was there for the Amarnath Yatra, the snow gives the place a different aura. Keep up the good work.

I have been to Kashmir just once when I was very little. Thanks for making me relive the memories. It's still so damn beautiful.

What wonderful photography!

share with us the details of your gear for such wonderful pictures?

Did it have any ground clearance issue in that heavy snow? And what about tyre chains for grip, considering that much snow in the roads?
I use Nikon D800 and D7000 with few lenses, filters etc.
Ground Clearance is never an issue with Snow, and SX4 has a goos ground clearance, mine is the first model so carries 190mm GC.
Snow chain was required at few places and I missed it badly

Re: Kashmir - Heaven, A Winter experience

Day 3:

We were expecting heavy snowfall, but nothing, Only the residual snow. We had nothing much to do today, we planned to drive to Aru to experience difference between summer and winter.

Had our breakfast at Dana Pani, near hotel, and owned by the bother of Sunny (Jagjit). After our tummy full, we headed towards Aru around 11 Am with multiple breaks in between. Roads were quite narrow as most of it was covered with snow. Some of the sections were really tough and SX4 slipped a bit.

We stopped at many places in between and at the ground of Aru Eco Resort which was looking completely different from June. Went straight to Aru market, which was all covered with Snow, met Ali Baba, our guide during last June trip.

Aru was different and amazingly beautiful during winter, I was tempted to stay there for the night, but decided to stay near more resourceful place, and we realized what a brilliant decision it was, next day.

We spent around 2 hours playing with snow, making snow man, Nandini got her white mule which she was asking for, from the start of the trip. We were back to Pahalgam, indoor by 5 pm as it was getting really cold post sunset.

Heading towards Aru

The last pic/collage in this set speaks a thousand words. Ask me what, I wouldn't be able to tell. I was smiling for about 5 minutes looking at it.

Other pictures are wallpaper stuff. Brilliant!

Will you please get a move on sir? Please!
Just so we can stop checking this page every few minutes and can actually do some useful work in office!

Seriously though, you never fail to mesmerize! This just reminded me of your spiti log, can't seem to locate it here, reading on BCMT.

Amazing travelogue, awesome photography.

The world (specially India) is so beautiful and here I am, trapped in Bangalore with my insecurities and mundanities.

Absolute jaw droppers, the frames are so out of the ordinary, it almost looked unreal. Super photographs to say the least, good you have watermarked them properly. Just WOW.

Re: Kashmir - Heaven, A Winter experience

Excellent travelogue rkbharat and equally mind boggling pics. Truly an amazing landscape captured most serenely from your lens. You have given us mortal folks enough reason to try and venture out into untested waters...errr snow . I had the opportunity to visit Kashmir in Jun 2007, but the whiteness gives a whole different perspective!!

Re: Kashmir - Heaven, A Winter experience

This thread has become a sort of addiction. I was awestruck the first time around. Even after viewing the pics for countless times - my reaction is still the same: awestruck. The pics are amazing. We don't have to look elsewhere when we have such beauty in our own country.

Lovely travelogue, hats off to you sir.
