Enjoy your drive and the trip both and post a detailed travelogue and pics once back. I had done Abad-Barmer-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer - Abad during the Diwali of 2006. Enjoyed the drive till Barmer and also the Jaisalmer-Barmer stretch. But the Barmer-Jodhpur stretch back then was a total mess. Dont know how it is now.

Be careful with the ongoing dust storm in Rajasthan region. Also there are not many eating joints once you cross Rajasthan. So do stock up on food and water.

I am assuming you have already done your drive,if not then Good Hall just before you enter Barmer is the one and only place to stop for food on NH15 between Sanchore & Jaisalmer.There are a couple of restaurants inside Barmer town,but parking etc is quite problematic not to mention of the rush.This place is bang opposite the Barmer BP COCO on NH15.Food is excellent and washrooms are excellent as well.

Sheer bad luck Ranjit, my car started giving problems the night before the trip and the local mechanic discouraged the trip. I will have to do it either this week or wait for the summer to end.

I had noted the Good Hall hotel name in your travelogue and that was going to be my stop. Now it has to wait until my next time.

Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur-Deesa-Sanchore-Barmer-Jaisalmer.

Hi,
I am planning a bigger trip on 10th August.

Here is the route I have in mind:
Jaipur -Jaisalmer - Dholavira - Bhuj - Dwarka - Jaipur.

All I have it 6.5 days and our Maruti Ertiga. Two drivers for this trip. Does this looks doable?

Hi guys we had finalized Jaisalmer as the destination for my brother's wedding. As most of you'll know Jaisalmer is a very difficult place to get to. So we had shortlisted an overnight journey in a sleeper bus from Ahmedabad to jaisalmer. Can anyone give me some insight on the route and also where can we potentially stop enroute for breakfast and bio-break?
