Re: A long weekend at Kabini

Very Nice photos. I have been to Kabini twice. Your photos nudge me to plan a third trip. You were right about the place being full in vacations (March-May). Its also the best time to see the wildlife.

We too saw leopards, wild dogs, bison, elephants, deers, crocs and all except the 'tiger'. Travelled to Mudhumalai, Bandhipur, Kabini (twice) and all the wild life sanctuaries in Kerala. Dont know if there are any tigers left in South India anymore.

Seems like everyone apart from me who has gone to Kabini has spotted big cat
Thanks, mpksuhas. You will probably see all three predators on your next safari, who knows?

Thanks, NNair. According to the forest guards and the naturalists who accompanied us, there are about 20 tigers and over a 100 leopards in the Nagarhole Tiger Reserve alone. Some of our co-tourists on safari on a different day even managed to spot a tiger lurking in the bushes, they showed me some photos. So there are definitely tigers there.

Awesome Trip Stryker and amazing pics. You got really lucky with the leopard sighting. Liked the pic of the Spider as well. I don't know whether it is just me but it's head looks a bit like the Radiation warning sign.

LOL, someone in my office was saying it looked like a bio-hazard symbol! Looks like that spider has multiple warnings etched on it. With so many warning signs on it, the birds and lizards probably leave it well alone.

The thrill of seeing wildlife in the wild (as it were) is very addictive and no wonder there are a lot of wildlife junkies.

Wonderful thread Stryker, and the wildlife photologue is one of the best and most enjoyable I have come across. We do a fair bit of touring ourselves but sadly have no talent for capturing the trips as beautifully as you have.

Thanks, Zahoor23. As I have mentioned earlier, we were extremely lucky to have so many sightings in a single safari. It is worth the visit at any time, but maybe you should go there after the rains.

I usually don't stop on the highway or country roads to take photos, but I will try to do that next time we go out.

We were two families of three each, put up in the water front villa.

Wish I had known a bhpian was there as well.

Beautiful pictures, Lucky to spot the leopard.

We spotted the tiger twice on our safaris but not the leopard.
I hope it's ok if I post a few pictures here.

PS - Camera - Canon 1000D, 55-250 , The last one by me, rest all clicked by my wife.

Not sure if you noticed the date of my first post. I was there last year (2015), not this May. Anyway, Serai is always a good place to relax over a slow weekend. Nice pics of the tiger too.
