I am planning a visit to Nagarhole with my family in the month of July (and my friend planning to go there in a couple of days with his family) with the hope and strong desire to see more wild life especially wild cats. expecting suggestions/recommendations from you all on the following:
1) Route from chennai (when i search nagarhole, google map says no recommendations found)

2) decent and safe place of accommodation in the range of 2500-3000 Rs per day. If you think i will not get a decent and 200% safe accommodation in range of 3000 rs, then in that case i am fine in settling in for an accommodation at a higher price. please suggest options.
3) places of sight seeing in and around nagarhole(i believe wayanad sanctuary is closer)
4) any contacts for booking safari into the jungle and preferred timing for booking.
5) can i stay in Nagarhole, travel to Kabini and return back to nagarhole - what do you recommend.
6) is July the right season for going on safari - is there any threat of safari getting cancelled quoting rains?

Please let me know your suggestions. Thanks.
1. Route is Chennai -> Bangalore -> Mysore -> Hunsur -> Nagerhole. Below Google maps link shows route to Jungle retreat Wayanad (place mentioned in the travelogue) passing through Nagerhole

2. Try Jungle Retreat Wayanad.
http://www.jungleretreatwayanad.com/

It is little more pricy, but rates are inclusive of food and other activities and is absolutely safe though there is wildlife all around.

http://peppergreenresorts.com/ is a resort.

You can find travelogues covering these places in Travelogues section (including mine).

Other options you can consider are

http://agraharamresort.com/

3. You have the option to do safari in Nagerhole, Tholpetty, Damankatte. Tirunelly temple and Kuruva island can be covered. There are trekking option if you are interested.

4. Government safari booking can be done at the counter an is on a first come first serve basis. Try to do the early morning or the last safari in the evening. Some resorts have tie-up with JLR and will arrange JLR safari which is much more expensive than Gvt safari. It is better to confirm the safari details with resort folks.

5. You can cover the mentioned places staying in any of the above mentioned places

6. Can't comment on this, I have seen Safari getting cancelled on the spot without advance notice due to heave rains.

Hope this information helps you in planning.
