Good pictures. Good writing.
Suggest you reach Bandipur check post b/w 5-6 am.
So when that gate opens, you get some good jungle time.

That is the best time to see the wild animals.

I've seen woodpeckers (OK just one ), nilgai (many) golden mongoose and Civet cats (OK, one cat only).

I personally feel Conoor is better in many ways.

I think your picture was taken from the Emerald Lake approach. What Aray has posted was from the restricted forest approach, where one has to hire a jeep to cross the barricade and approach via a ghat road.

This is how the view was in June 2012. We were lucky to have a misty day.

By the way Aray, lovely TL and very good pics. Kinda felt nostalgic as I too had done that trip from Hyderabad on my Fiesta.

It was never this bad ever, even last march. Dont know what lake is in this picture.
