A long drive+meet was long due since the Jodhpur drive+meet. Our initial plan was to do a Delhi-Bikaner-Delhi lunch drive in couple of cars. Bikaner is almost 500 kms from Delhi, given that we all had just 1 day it would have been more of a touch and go lunch trip.
Sambhar was closer to Delhi, its proximity to Jaipur meant we can stay at Sambhar till sunset to click pictures and have dinner at the Pink city. We eventually decided to head to Sambhar Lake.
The plan: Quote:
Delhi/NCR BHPians Marathon Drive to Sambhar Salt Lake and Jaipur When: 10th February. Meeting point and time: 4:15 am at Barista.
Nh 8, Rangpuri, Avenue Bouganvillea, Rangpuri, New Delhi, Delhi 110037, India
+91 11 4985 4805 https://maps.google.com/?cid=9894154...91&hl=en&gl=us Plan:- Leave Delhi at 4:30 am.
- Breakfast stop at Hotel Highway King, Bagru.
- Spend the day till sunset at Sambhar Salt Lake.
- Leave Sambhar Salt Lake for Jaipur after sunset.
- Dinner at Jaipur: Handi.
- Drive back to Delhi after Dinner.

Few more pics from the Salt Lake..
We drove till Shakambhari Mata temple
The 2 most young lads in the group Traveller Nayak and Vibhor Sir did the climb up to the top of the temple :D
We then went to the salt pans on our way back to the town
We also had come to see Flamingos to Sambhar, it was already late afternoon we had not spotted even a single one, far away near the pans someone from the group thought he saw Flamingos, excited we all started walking ahead..
We are finally gonna see them, all happy faces :D
but it was nothing but a couple of Heron and we had to return, the walk back was a long one! lol:
Lunch time
Post lunch our plan was to leave for Jaipur, but how could we leave Sambhar without spotting Flamingos. We got to know of a place where we could spot some.
We drove through some narrow streets of Sambhar to reach Krishna Bhakt Meera Bai Salt Pan.
Krishna Bhakt Meera Bai Salt Pan.
Walking towards the other side of the Salt Pan in search of Flamingos
and finally the moment arrives, getting ready. Get, set... clap:
..and go, shoot! :D Flamingos
Aseem, AZ911 and Samar117 keeping an eye on the cars while we go see the birds :D
Time to go! It was time to leave for Jaipur.

Looks like a great outing, and the food.. mouth-watering!
Great compilation Cheef Rishi. Indeed a great trip, topped up with equally incredible food.
I'm also attaching a Youtube video that we created for this trip. It was just made for fun and no copyright infringement was intended by the creator.

When it comes to Sambhar, this idom fits perfectly for me. A gem of a place which is barely 50 kms from my clinic, numerous plans made and canceled and the place is still not visited even once.
Well, this thread has triggered that itch again. Beautifully crafted with amazing clicks.

The first thing which comes to my mind while watching the Q3 having fun is the "ESP off" lol:
Salt lake looks beautiful and seems that you guys had a lot of fun watching the sunset, flamingos, relishing on Rajasthani delicacies. Cheers.

The vastness of the salt lake depicts what nature has to offer. Has been one heck of a trip, it seems.
