Rains, lovely roads, great food and a beast for company! What a lovely log with great pictures and narration. Like others, I am also tempted by your bedroom on wheels and am looking at my Bolero for something similar. Thanks for sharing. 5 stars!

Cozy and comfy bed with AC. It's a nice place to stretch and relax on the go.

Amazing travelogue and this pic (the bed in the car) just made it better!
It's always refreshing to see the western ghats in rains, and the first thing I did while reading, searched for Lavasa and places to stay there. The itch of driving there has gone up exponentially!!

Lavasa is a good sleepy and expensive place. Its ideal for a lazy do nothing holiday. Hotels are expensive and so called home stays will disappoint, as most number of home stays are very poorly managed and over priced. Mercury hotel is a good option to stay.

hi. What was the route u used to go from Lavasa to Mahab? Did you try the internal connecting roads or came back to the highway and then on from there?

Re: Monsoon drive to the Western ghats in an Isuzu MU-X

great photos drbones, I have been going to mahabaleshwar for past 3 years in the months of August and it has never been enough. Last time we ventured into the khas plateu and this time we drove from Satara via Khas Plateu covering Vajrai waterfalls, Bamnoli Village, Koyna River, Tapoli and finally Mahabaleshwar a total distance of around 80km odd and it was the most scenic route that i have ever driven consisting of waterfalls here and there and rivulets eager to join the Great Koyna river.

I picked up an ISUZU MUX 4x4 in November last year. Awesome beast. The 4x4 package is simply superb and off roading is a breeze. The driving comfort is excellent. It would have helped to have a 7 speed transmission to enable smooth shifting of gears in the auto mode. Too much of acceleration before it shifts to the next gear.

Traction control and hill hold is amazing. Able to cruise effortlessly at high speed without feeling even a slight grunt.

Overall this car is an amazing package. Happy to have made this choice !
