Re: Thailand: Phuket, Krabi & Bangkok - A family vacation

What a travelogue CrAzY dRiVeR and what a time for it to come live on the Forum. Monday's were never like this, ever ! Loved every bit of it. Rated it a well deserved 5*

Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi was a good choice for a first time overseas travel indeed. I traveled back in time to 2008. Yes, it too was our first international trip, rather our honeymoon trip to Phuket. In these 12 years a lot has changed in Thailand it seems. Specially the Tuk-Tuks which is the blood stream of the city and the towns.

We had planned the trip ourselves and it turned out to be pretty decent at the end of it. A "first" is always very close to the heart so bumping into your thread and sharing some pictures from our trip, I hope you will not mind it.

At the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok :

At Siam, Bangkok :

The 3 Wheeled Tuk-Tuks then : (Cannot forget them doing Wheelies)

The famous Toyota Corolla Taxis :

We took an overnight train from the Bangkok Railway Station :

To Surat Thani Railway Station :

From here we took a Double Decker Mercedes Benz Bus to Phuket Town. A picture of the countryside enroute Phuket :

Our Resort on Patomg Beach, Phuket - Thara Patong Beach Resort :

We opted to take one of these Jeeps for our stay. Got it for 1000THB/ day if i remember vaguely from our Resort's Travel Desk :

This machine made heads turn all over Phuket for sure. In the evenings we used to take off the Soft Top and enjoy the drives on the winding mountain roads. It was a good decision to hire the Jeep withour which we could not have explored Phuket, the way we did.

Some pictures of Phuket :

It goes without saying that your pictures push me to plan a travel to South East Asia soon in spite of being dusted with it. But I guess it's never enough. Thanks for sharing the Visa On Arrival Details. I guess it is an important pointer and should help many. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful read and some majestic pictures. Made my day !!

Day 5: Phi Phi, Maya Area, Khai and Coco Beach Snorkeling Day Trip

We booked premium catamaran for this trip and this trip was organized by Yachtmaster. Taken in isolation, the trip was Ok, but the whole service paled when compared to the service provided by SeaStar Andaman. The trip started from Boat Ramp Phuket which is a far cry from the Royal Phuket Marina (transfer from the hotel to the marina was done by the ubiquitous Commuter).

The premium catamaran of Yachtmaster which was supposed to ferry us was having some issues, so we were ushered into another catamaran, which was not really premium – but the saving grace was that this one had open windows and I was glad that we got this instead of the premium catamaran which had sealed windows.

The scenery was really awesome – I will defer to pictures than using words:

After an amazing day trip, we spend the evening relaxing and playing at the beach, followed by dinner and a night walk.

Day 6: Back to Bangalore.

Last day of the trip – work up late and had a very leisurely breakfast – it was time to say goodbye to the hotel, but as they say ‘Ye Dil mange More’. On the way back, We stopped at a 7 eleven to pick up some snacks and did some last-minute shopping at the airport, and after lunch at Subway, it was time to board the flight.

Contrary to the Bangalore – Bangkok trip, the Phuket – Bangalore trip landed early, signaling the final phase of an amazing trip.

All thanks to mobile cameras these days! Gone are the days when post-processing was the biggest task in itself! With the new 5MB image size limit on Team-Bhp, hardly even had to bother resizing the pics as well.

Nothing wild! Just couldn't think of Crocodile and Octopus as food, even though I'm not a vegetarian. Lol!

Absolutely! In fact, we had to have Indian food for dinner because it came pre-arranged as part of the package! Hence visited a couple of restaurants in all these places and boy - were those expensive and average!

Not to mention - parents and wife had stomach trouble from eating Indian food there!

Nice. Doesn't look half as commercial back then!
