It seems the original route you planned via Kaksang La is fine and roads are good if isolated and sharp bends. So you can take the same.

Excellent travelogue. Well done in such challenging circumstances. Can you please let me know following:-
1. Assuming you filled up in Nubra full tank, how much additional fuel you put in before reaching the next fuel station in Keylong . What the capacity of your tank? Its about 800 km from Nubra to Keylong. If your tank capacity is 60 L then assuming a fuel efficient of 8 kmpl , it would need 40 L additional fuel .
2. How did the hydraulic jack performed ? Can you post a link
