About Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Sardar Patel studied law in England and returned to India in 1913. He joined the Indian National Congress and became involved in the freedom struggle. After India gained independence in 1947, Sarda Patel became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs. He is credited with integrating the 565 princely states of India into a united and independent nation. He is also known as the “Iron Man of India” for his determination and leadership in this effort.

You can visit the Statue of Unity throughout the year but the best time to visit is in winter since the temperature will be pleasing to travel. There will be a lot of walking required to visit the SoU and nearby places. The Statue of Unity is closed on Mondays for maintenance work.


How to Reach the Statue of Unity?

You can reach Kevadia from any type of travel mode:

By Flight/Air: You can take a flight from any major city to Vadodara or Surat Airport. You can then take a taxi, traveler, etc to reach Kevadia and other nearby places.

By Road: Kevadia is well connected with good roads by any part of the country. You can take bus services from nearby major cities and by car from any part of India. We love to do road trips and travel mostly by road.

By Train: You can take the most convenient mode of travel i.e Train. The nearest major train station is Surat which is 150 KM from SoU or Vadodara which is 90 KM and from here you can book a taxi or Auto rickshaw which will help you to visit all places in Kevadia.
