Re: Three Thars and the Hills of Coorg

Nice writeup. In fact so reminiscent as we just returned from our trip to coorg in our creta, we clocked 620 kms from home. We did encounter some rains and thunder clouds especially in the evenings on all 3 days we were there. Though no off roading for us, me and wifey had great appreciation for the neatly laid tarmac on both gonikoppa & sidhapura stretches and all the way to Bangalore.

You are a true travel spirit and the Thar is best suited for you, your choice and your gang of friends May I ask, what did you do with your Sx4? Still kept it or parted ways?

Wonderful write up as usual AD, with some great images. It was a fun trip with you and @justwheels. Looking forward to many more drives in the coming months. Glad that you are enjoying the Thar.

Sharing some images of the cars and a few with no Thars as well

Lovely pictures! Thanks for sharing.

I am glad you got some photos without Thar too. The places we visited were quite beautiful and had some great landscapes too. But unfortunately I got carried away taking Thar photos and missed out on landscapes

Beautiful writeup, awesome pictures. I bought my Thar 2 months back. Clocked 3200 kms but all on the highway. I am yet to take it out to territory where the Thar belongs. Lookyforward to that this monsoon and then later.

I did manage to capture a few with my red beast from the trip and a few of the surroundings. Sharing those below. Coorg and its surrounding areas are blessed with some of the most green locales and cascades of mountains/hills.

Enjoy some of the captures from the trip below:

A beautiful grassland with the valley view. Spot the Thars below the hill parked in the vegetation:

The three Thars parked at the beautiful homestay:

Thars parked while we munched much needed lunch at Wheels Cafe in Madikeri:

Some overload of my red beast in various surroundings:

Congratulations on your new Thar. You should definitely try at least some mild off-roading (to start with). 3200km on the highways is not a fair use of the Thar :-) You will love it a lot more once you take it on roads/trails where other cars usually can not reach.

Wow! Beautiful pictures! Thanks a lot for sharing these.

Very nice! The miniature looks great, so does the full sized one! I also have a few scale models, and one of those is a scale model of 3-door Jeep Wrangler (which essentially can pass as a scale model of Thar ). I love that scale model. When I bought that scale model, I had no intention or not even a long term plan to get a Thar one day. But it happened and I am happy it happened.

Thanks again for sharing these wonderful pictures!

Re: Three Thars and the Hills of Coorg

Lovely pictures, and I loved the way you use your cars as they are supposed to be used. Congratulations on the new ride! In fact, when I bought my BMW, your travelogues were a big source of inspiration for me. I would love to join you on a meetup or a long ride anytime if you're in or around Bangalore.

Re: Three Thars and the Hills of Coorg

Thanks to this thread, and some guidance from the same homestay owner Hemanth over WA (we didn't stay with him though as he was booked out), we did the Mandalpatti ride recently. It was super fun driving over the rocky terrain.
