A lazy breakfast drive to the beach | Maruti Jimny

A lazy breakfast drive to the beach | Maruti Jimny-dsc04483_1tbhp.jpg

Stepped out for a morning drive to a nearby beach at Kozhikode after Dussehra. The plan was to drive and grab a good breakfast along the way. We got a rather empty beach after the dussehra festivities and took some photos of the Jimny against the sea. The sunlight was good and so was the breeze.

One absolute necessity while driving in Kerala are quick overtakes. Usually, a colourful private bus is hurtling at you on the opposite lane and a Lance stroll is ahead of you holding up traffic. So the Overdrive Off button had to be used liberally on the busy highway. It did the job well and we made rapid progress. Once a while, the increased engine sound would catch a fellow road user by surprise and I noticed a startled biker who stared at me quizically while I was doing my 'OD off' ritual. After a rather eventful highway drive, we turned off toward the beach and were greeted by extremely narrow roads and lots of difficult sections to navigate. The little fellow was just fabulous here, evoking appreciation from the curious bystanders.

To cut a short story further short, we reached the beach in style. The breakfast was also quite satisfying with the usual Appams, Iddiappams, green peas masala, Dosa and multiple cups of Coffee to supplement it. An air conditioner is a must have in the car if one plans to travel within Kerala and having a power steering and an AC just makes this a phenomenally useful runabout. I have done these parts in a Gypsy and it was extremely uncomfortable with regard to the weather. Not so with this samurai. All in all the Jimny has clocked 6000kms and has brought a new sense of fun to travel.

Beautiful captures of Jimny, megazoid. It's is one desirable product and has a nice purposeful stance. Loved reading about the quick escapade.

Travelogues like this makes you fall in love with the Jimny. Especially in this white colour. Looks smashing. I was just wondering it would look even better with a blacked out roof and a cursive logo of Suzuki in the front grille.
Thanks for sharing.

The serenity in getting away from the crowds is aptly captured in these pics. Lovely little escape; totally agree with your assessment of driving in Kerala.

Wow! your Jimny looks so good in white. Are these the stock tires and suspension?

Some very good pictures in an already good setting. Jimny is looking smashing.

Nice one megazoid.

I’m a big fan of the ‘OD off’ process in the Jimny too. Now that you mention the attention, I think I actually startled people sometimes and construed their glances as a sign of appreciation of the car, little did I know they were muttering abuses.

What beach is this? And I’m already craving for some Appams and stew and idiappams.

I really like the solitary, wanderlust vibe the photos give. More like the road not taken. I'm a bit curious though. How does the Jimny ride in beach sand? can you post any videos of driving through the beach?

The sight of those palm trees and the way they complement Jimmy's presence brings to mind the sheer beauty of Kerala. What a wonderful photograph!

Beautiful photos; put to its purpose.

Looks like all hard packed sand.

Hope you gave it a under body good wash, after.

A perfect setting for jimny. The photos are too good and one could not have asked for a better background. Leaves one drooling and craving to own a jimny. It would be nice if you could share the details of the location.
