For hotel stay have a look here, I would suggest exclude Suvarna for yourself and look at others.
As Dadu suggested, best option is to stay @ Hassan. We did that in 2005 on our way back from Kerala to Ahmedabad thro. Mysore. One day Belur, Halibedu, another day Sravanabegola, 3rd day we check out, went to Dharmasthala and reached the same night @ Udipi.

Happy Driving,

Is this itenary feasible

Hi,
I am planning for a belur & halebid trip soon.

Here is the itenary:
Day 1 : Start early from bangalore and visit shravanabegola.
Check into hotel at noon in Hassan..have lunch and some rest
Evening visit Gorur dam
Day 2: Visit Belur and Halebid in the morning
Return to hotel at noon and rest
Return to bangalore in the evening

Is this feasible. We are two families and have a 1year old kid each.

Also approximate travel time from silkboard if we leave at 6:00 am?

this is very possible, Shravanabelagola is on the way, take the detour, have your lunch after coming down in Shravenabelagola only and then start for hassan.

Belur, halebid can be covered in first half of the day, have lunch at belur and come back to hassan.

You can cover Gorur on either day depending on the time available at hand.

Kamath Upchar will come on your right just before channarayapatna and apprx 40kms before Hassan. I cannot remember any other decent place inbetween.

You should be able to reach Shravanabelagola in 3-4 hrs and hassan in another 1 hr.

There is one decent hotel left side around 70km from Nelmangala I remember, I ate food there couple of times in the past. Most of the volvo/ travellors stop there I noticed.

In front of hotel there is garden type area you can easily spot it. Other option is Kamath upachar that dadu mentioned, its supposed to be good. It comes between channarayan patna and hassan and 5km from channarayapatna right side i feel.

Regards,

Ravi.

Hotel Mayura comes before CR Patna, and Kamat upachar comes around 10 km after CR patna. Both have decent food/toilet/parking facilities.

Just back

Just back from the Belur, Halebid trip.

The new road to belur is AWSOME and thats putting it mildly. Its as good as the ECR with some beautiful curves and amazing scenery ( hills, windwills, lakes, sunflower fields ) thrown in.

Also enjoyed the drive from Belur-Halebid. Again, the road from Halebid to Hassan is bad but it more than makes up for the even better views( bigger lakes, bigger fields..same hills and windmills though )

If such places were in the US, i am sure those guys would have made a fortune marketing it.

regards
