Dushera in Ooty & Coonor

We always wanted to go for a trip all together - the whole family including the dog. Finally, we gotthe chance last Oct when all the working members could get leave together. We were 8 of us and hired a Tavera in addition to our Swift.

Started on Oct 18 at 7:30 am and hit the Mysore road after one hour through city traffic. Reached Kamath for breakfat - it was very crowded. We went through Mysore city and headed for Mudumalai. The road out from Mysore was in bad shape and slowed us down. We entered the sanctuary area around noon - the road in this section was good and we saw some herds of deer.

Reached the resort (Mountainia) around 1:00pm and had lunch. After lunch and some rest went for safari. We started around five and I took my car. Saw couple of elephants by the road. By the time we turned back, it was seven and it started to drizzle.

Next day after breakfast we started for Coonor. Driving through the 36 hairpin bends for the first time was an exciting experience. Crossed Ooty and reached Coonor hotel around noon for lunch. Afternoon we spent in the botanical garden and shopping.

On 20th morning went for Dodabetta - unfortunately it was very foggy and visibility was down to a few feet. Reached Ooty from there and checked into the hotel - liked the place. Sagar resorts is about 3 km from main town and one gets a grand view of the Ketty valey from each room and balcony. After lunch and snooze, went to the rose garden.

Next day visited the botanical garden and the toda village on top. There are few traditional Toda houses and only the temple stood out.

Again it started to rain and we had to take rest of the day easy and enjoy the view from the room.

nice write up MG.

did not notice this earlier!

A vacation with the whole family - including the family dog. Now, that a good spirit! I have seen people leave their pet back home with relatives / care facilities when going on trips.

What did you do with the pet when you went to the parks?

Thanks happy wheels.
He went with us to parks - they allowed him in Conoor botanical garden but not in Ooty rose garden. He was waithing in the car. We parked in shade and kept the windows open by a couple of inches. He is used to waiting in the car for a couple of hours without much fuss....
