I may have been misinformed, in that case I need to cover it next time.

When i was a kid, my school was just below these mountains (that's y the name Mountain View school) often we used to see fire in the mountain during night & that was one wonderful sight.
The next day, the newspaper said that the fire was started by poachers to chase the animals in the direction where they could trap them. We could see the fire in the night from the home stay too. It looks surreal.

Nice pics and report (as usual).

But Halebidu is just around 50 kms from Belur. It's a nice place (than Belur). Maybe in you can add this in next trip.

Nice pics and great write up samurai sir,

I recently did bhadravathi>>koppa>>sringeri>>budhigere>>
dharmasthala>>sakleshpur>>belur>>chickmangalore>.b hadravathi..

The road from dharmasthala to sakleshpur is a perfect 4x4 road for your GV concrete roads are being laid on the curves and on the bridges.
existenece of road is 0%.

Abhi
Great pics of the hills there.
Akroy,Best route to Mangalore is thro Shiradi. All potholes in Sakleshpur town till Donigal are filled up.Concreting the curves from Donigal to Gundiya are on.Local buses are plying already.I recently did Sakleshpur-Mangalore in 3.5 hrs,in my Getz.No huge craters anymore,so no more under belly damage.Good news is that , 4laning of NH 48 is on(Bangalore-Hassan stretch).Just imagine this drive once it is completed

Status on SHiradi ghats..

Repairs are on but at snails pace, though all the major craters are covered, still one has to be careful esp in sedans! according to me going thru the ghat in a sedan esp loaded one would be a challenge!
but its not IMPOSSIBLE.... doable with lots of care

This is how it was 2 weeks back...
