@shuvd: No, you dont need to cross a river to reach Mandarmoni, but a river-bed would probably have a better surface than the road leading to the beach

@planet: It was getting difficult to keep the car in a straight path beyond 90kph on the beach, with those GPS2's. Want to upgrade to something better, but these ones would go on for another 15K easily.... m planning to reduce a little bit more

@abhi: what appears to be a more wornout centre portion of the front tyre, may be due to sand filling up the treads.

Mandarmoni is damn good beach, even to the extent of saying that it is the best beach in India. 15 km of beach sand driving is to be experienced - with almost nil crowd.

I have been going to Mandarmoni for the last 4 years - at that time it had just one very basic hotel at the end of the 15 km beach run.

I also went to Digha - Mandarmoni this Monday-Tuesday, and again Mandarmoni was empty as usual - more so as it was weekday.

To enjoy Mandarmoni definitely go in the monsoon and that too by bike - it is a experience sure you will not forget, and of course drive along the beach during the monsoon tide time when the beach gets submerged - along a feet of sea water all through the 15 km, you have drive to continously to get through, a stop and wait and your tyres get sunk in.

Enclosing some pictures during my last monsoon run with Bullet and also some Safari pictures this Tuesday - 26 Feb, 08.
