We cannot use A380 for domestic use. I heard from Malya when A380 was launched (in some newspaper). If you can run domestic flights on demanding sectors with A380 in India it will take care of lots of air congesion as well as better business opportunity.
Imagine A380 carrying 550 passengers from bangalore to Delhi or Kolkata. It is like 3 A320 or 737s together.

But the airports should be able to handle Mass transit of 550 passengers with bigger/better logistics inside airport like multiple prepaid taxi booth, bigger/faster luggage pickup, quick exits etc.

India is one country (china and US are others) where a domestic A380 flight is viable. Imagine the amount of traffic congestion that can be removed especially in Mumbai and Delhi airports if A380 replaces 4 A320 flights.
why restriction in Bangalore for A380 (only for international) ?

THat is precisely what i am saying. But at the moment only BIAL is designed to carry that load not only landing but also logistics. Other airports in India also needs to be upgraded (Mumbai/Delhi are been upgraded but not yet ready to handle A380).

India is one of the countries where the super jumbo can be put into use for domestic flying. Imagine Delhi-Mumbai-Bangalore or Chennai in 5 hours for 1.5k to 2k wouldnt be a bad deal anyday. But our airports have to ramp up for handling such a huge influx of passenger capacity and baggage handling.

Trust me... our very own Vijay Mallya might be working out on possibilities of operating on domestic routes. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Why only 550 people ?

Get rid of first class and business class and you can carry 800 people in one flight !!

even having 50 or so business class seats, you can still carry 700 people.

Congrats jango. The connectivity features are cool. How did you find the seat legspace ? Is this signficantly more than B777-300ER/200ER ? Otherwise, the long flights which A380 can make, and with that many passengers can get tedious ?

Nice pics. Yes, BIAL and RGIA, Hyd can take the flights of A380 calibre. If my memory goes right, Mallya has already placed orders and is expecting in 2010 (i hope). We can see some flights starting fromthat time or if any of the int'l flights lands here.

A few weeks post their launch of the service to Sydney, i had a chance to fly it (quite a long layover in Singapore though - but well worth it!) and that too in business class..

Singapore Airlines New Business Class

The one thing that you notice is that incredibly quite compared to the older generation aircrafts. It is similar to wearing a noise cancellation headphone.

The other is the size of the loos! For once you dont knock your elbows etc. A few of them are huge compared to the typical aircraft loos that you see.

The third thing was the wide stairway between the upper deck and the lower deck in the front - it is 10'-12' wide! They had cordoned it off as it descended to the first class suites (they no longer call it seats..
