In my last travelogue of MONSOON MASTI, as i mentioned, i will visit one of konkan beach on 14th and 15th Aug.

I love this konkan and western Maharashtra area.
It has many tourist destinations for each soul.
this area has forts like raigad, forest like dajipur,
wildlife sanctuaries like koyna sanctuary,
temples,
many beautiful ghats like malshej, tamhini ghat,
caves like badse.
It has hill stations like mahabaleshwar, amboli, matheran,
beaches like tarkarli, shiroda, kondura, diveagar, kashid which are more beautiful than goa beaches,
trekking paths like harishchandrgad trek,
authentic cuisine like yummy malwani fishes,
reasonably priced resorts provided by MTDC,
near to mumbai and pune,
good roads,
many dams like koyna, mulshi, bhatghar,
humble localites
and most important no crowds.
This area with sahydri mountain and Arabian sea has very good potential as tourist place.
I had started to explore this area 2 years back and hope, will be completed in next two years.

As many bhpians are heading to Goa, i also decided to head a konkan beach.
As i have only two days in my hand, i do not want to waste much time in traveling. It should be @ 250 km from Baramati.
As there are holidays on 15,16 and 17 Aug, i am sure, lot of Mumbai and Pune people will head to beaches. Normally, mumbai and pune people heads to harihareshwar, diveagar, kashid and alibag. so lot of crowd. i do not want to be part of crowd. so no question of above raigad district beaches.
Sindhudurg district is too far from baramati. so no question of sindhudurg beaches.
now, it remained only ratnagiri district.

we will choose one destination in ratnagiri district.
guys, do you have any suggestions, ideas about beaches in Ratnagiri district? i know very well this area but post your suggestions.

I will choose one destination tomorrow.

Its rain everywhere in Maharashtra.
Roads in konkan are blocked due to overflowing rivers.
Still, i will go in konkan.
Now, in Ratnagiri district, there are many beaches.

1] Ganeshgule

This is very good beach 25 km southern side of ratnagiri.
pawas, purangad, ganeshgule beach and ratnagiri can be covered in this stretch.
very good for families as this beach is almost unknown to public.
no hotels, no shops, nothing but some houses.
last time when i was there, i could not get bottled water but got pepsicola.
ganapati temple situated at hill is famous.
as this place is @ 350 km from baramati, i am ruling it out.

2] Ganapatipule and Bhandarphule.

This is very famous beach and famous for ganapati temple also.
jaigad fort, malgund the birthplace of marathi poet keshavsut, kokansrushti are some places near ganapatipule.
lot of eateries, hotels, resorts are available.
mtdc has very good resort here.
ladies, children can enjoy here but lot of crowd. ladies may hesitate to play with water here. so you have one more beach near ganapatipule.
its just 2 km away south side. place is named bhandarphule. no crowd, no hotel, nothing except one resort and some houses. live in ganapatipule and enjoy seawater in bhandarphule.
this place is @ 330 km from baramati.
current rain has flooded en route towns like sangameshwar and chiplun, so we are hesitant to go there.

3] Hedvi

This is small village in guhagar taluka with narrow beach.
guhagar, velneshwar and hedvi can be covered in this stretch.
sand is blackish but beach is clean and lined with palm trees.
dashbhuja ganapati temple is famous here.
single resort with just 3 cottages and 4 rooms is famous for tasty seafood.
due to remoteness of this place, we are ruling it out.

4] Murud harnai, karde, kelshi.

Someone from team-bhp called this area as fishermen's Adda.
murud is famous for fish auction.
there is a beach called karde near murud.
this beach is supposed to be safest beach after diveagar.
there are some resorts, no crowd.
one more beautiful beach named kelshi is @ 15 km north of murud.
it is @ 250 km from baramati.
it seems that this is right place for us.

as i and my two friends are going on this trip, we will not book any resort.
Jo hoga dekha jayega.
as there is rain almost everywhere, we will one contingency plan ready.
we will choose route to murud such that if something go wrong with rains, our trip will not hamper.
i will let you know the route tomorrow.

if any bhpian had visited this place before, suggestions are welcome.

Monsoon masti started.

People are moving toword beaches.

GTO already reached to goa today.
Mobik008 and gang is starting from hydrabad tomarrow for goa.
Some pune gang also going to goa.

I am also going to karde beach near dapoli on 14th aug.

One bhpian from mumbai, Uday Desai went to Dapoli last week.
Pics of that thread added some exitement to my trip.

Me and one or two friends will start on 14th early in morning.

I will go by route of baramati-nira-lonand-pargaon khandala-wai-panchgani-mahabaleshwar-poladpur-khed-dapoli-karde.

On this route, we will cross four major ghats.
One on nh4 i.e. khambatki ghat,
second pasarni ghat on wai panchagani route,
third ambenali ghat on mahabaleshwar poladpur route,
fourth kashedi ghat on poladpur khed route.

If anything goes wrong beyond mahabaleshwar, we will enjoy cheers:mahabaleshwar in rain and come back. Reports are that one bridge is under water on khed dapoli route but hope it will be alright on 14th.

I will update this thread after coming back on 16th.

Till then, enjoy your trip.

Have monsoon masti with safe drive.

cheers:
