Wonderful trip. Just in right time of the year. And seems monsoon also did not disappoint.
Again, nice pictures. Keep them coming.

Shankaranand: Great trip; all done in a weekend that too! You say you enjoy rains - which is perfectly normal; but I am surpised that you enjoy driving in rain!!

By the way, you can put in your picture of the sunflower field in a photography competition and that is not an exaggeration - I am pretty serious here.

Very good trip report Shankaranand. I am still waiting for the Linganamakki dam to be opened, to see Jog in full glory. I have never been to Jog by the way.

Nice report and pictures Shankaranand, I enjoy driving in rains (it reduces speed though), especially when its really a scenic route...
post some pictures of the car as well, that will make a perfect tripreport.

Ravi / Samurai,

Please update us when the Linganamakki water is going to be released! I read in some other thread that they release it every weekend or so!! not sure on that...

I feel water in Linganamakki would be released in couple of days If heavy rain continues else with normal rain expect it in 2 weeks from now.

Just 10 foot away to release the water and can happen any time from now.

Once water is released, heavy rain should continue for just 2 days and stop. Expect JOG Falls within minutes with most magnificient view If with clear sky. Thats perfect time to visit JOG. It happened last year and would happen this year in maximum 2 weeks. I remember waiting for hours sometimes to see this beauty.

I will be in touch with locals and update about it!

Ravi.

Not much rains recently hence less water in Jog. Not worth unless that particular week it rains heavily. About road condition Jog - Mavingundi - Honnavar - Kumta - Ankola not in good shape. I suggest you take Chitradurga (nh4) - Hubli - Belgaum - Sawantwadi road to visit Goa from Bangalore.

Road near Tarikere - Bhadravati - Shimoga not good as well.

Regards,

Ravi.

Is it? I wanted badly to see Jog Never saw it till now.

How about the road from Haveri - sirsi -Devimane ghat- mirjan - ankola?

Is the roads down south to udipi good? Do you advice a return through that road so that Murdeshwar could be seen and return to bangalore?
