That speedbreaker is probably the same one where I tested my (then) new Yoko ES100s by braking very very hard :-). I nearly missed it too!

Lovely pictures.

Once I am done with the dharsan, I came out and saw a guy selling Petrol in cans. Since I dont want to drive another 10-12kms in that condition, I got the petrol from him. He charged me Rs.70 bucks. Yes expensive than the Shell premium petrol. Anyway I had no option. So filled it and left for the city.

On my way back, I saw 2 3 bunks and all are empty. No stock. Why?

Then I filled the petrol in Shell petrol bunk in front of the L&T komatsu and came back to home. We were just in time for my son's parents teachers meeitng

Hi ,

I am planning to drive to Nandi Hills . I wanted to know how difficult or easy is it to drive thro the ghat section . For some reason , though I have driven close to 35K kms , have done very little on ghat roads(single roads for both up and down traffic) .
Are there any real risky turns or ups and downs which needs to be watched for?

just go ahead, and enjoy. the road is wide, so not a problem at all.

I went to Nandi Hills last sunday. The roads are newly laid and well marked. You should not face problems. There are ghat section and hairpin bends but broad and can be negotiated well.
I suppose you are going for the first time. If yes, pls collect Rs60 ticket from bus/bike stand and take your car further up (I told the same to 2 first time car travellors in Nandi hills as they were looking lost at the bus stand).

Hi I have been to Nandi hills couple of times, another attraction is onway one can see grape plantations, for kids as well as adults, it could be any attraction to see how grapes are grown.
I have tried buying the grapes from the kids who sell them on the roadside, often i have found them to be sour, once once i could buy really sweet grapes.

Never knew about this hidden temple (missed the thread from Har). As rightly told, I am planning to skip Nandi Hills and head to the temple.

I am planning to trip to Nandi Hills (near Bangalore) in my new Linea this weekend. I have not visited Nandi Hills in last 10 years. Can someone tell me the best route (I stay in Banashankari) and also the condition of the roads? Also what are the good restaurants on the way or at Nandi hills?

I think the beauty of nandi hills can be experienced fully only if you reach the top before sunrise. The view from the Top during sunrise is awesome and you should not miss it for anything.reaching there after 7:00 AM i feel is kind of pointless , since you will be missing those first sunrays hitting the horizon.
Below are 2 pictures taken when we had gone there in April 2009.We stayed in the guest house maintained by PWD previous night and had a nice walk at 5:00 AM when birds were chirping and cold wind. It was superb.I guess now it will be even more cold since winter is crouching in.

Re: One day trip to Nandi Hills & BhogaNandhiswara Temple...

Apologies for adding to an old thread, but does someone have a picture of that most (in)famous speed breaker, or photo of any landmark / eye-catcher before that speed breaker? This might help all first-timers to Nandi Hills (me! me!).

Dont have any picture, but Once you see the Jain temple on your left (after passing the Devanahalli cross) it should be in net couple of KMs. Its been a while, I am not sure if it is marked now.

By the way, the speed breaker was famous because there was no particular landmark, its all clean road, with not much happenings which automatically makes you push
