The latest issue of Jet Airways inflight magazine (Jet Wings, Sep 2008) has rated India's 10 Best Drives. Those listed (along with their comments) are:

1 Srinagar to Leh 460 km

"unimaginably pretty countryside" "scenic overdose" "bordered by mighty snow-capped Himalayan peaks looming high" "profusion of green" to "grey, stark and craggy landscape" "pack a great deal of spirit of adventure"


2 Kaza to Rohtang Pass 150 km

and iam sure you had traveled on all these roads

Only chance for me is to do Munnar to Thekkady

11. Chalakudy to Valparai, 110 kms

"waterfalls, jungles & tuskers" "giant cicadas drumming a din"

12. Narkhanda to Recong Peo, 170 kms

"ferocious Himalayan rivers" "falling off the overhanging cliffs"

I have been on the munnar-thekkedy road and it was simply amazing.
I did not feel that it was really India ( Truely)

my friend, that is the REAL India. The parts that we keep forgetting about and people from other places have to tell us about it. Travelling the world is something i would love to do, but then if one thinks about it there is SO much to see in our country alone that i feel it would take a good part of one's lifetime to see completely!

Nice find and thanks for posting the same on the forum. It's my dream to drive all over India and am sure that J&K and north-east would be absolute treat to drive.
