Week end trips from Bangalore!!

Hi Guys,

Have been doing some weekend trips from Bangalore. As I am new to the city was exploring a few places around. Some of the places i Visited were
Nandi Hills, Mysore, Tirupati and the last trip was to my home town - Hyderabad.

Here are some of the pics of my trip:

Nandi Hills: though a Short trip, Still enjoyed. Was foggy in the morning, and drizzling. Was fun driving through the ghats. Returned back by evening.

Started: 5:30 Am
Distance: 80Kms
Reached: 7:00 AM

Returned: Same Day Evening

Took rest on Sunday and on the next weekend was off to Tirupati.

Again started early morning. thought would return in the evening. but our plan didnt work out, thanks to the heavy rush for the darshan.

Started: 4:30 AM
Distance: Bangalore-Tirupati - 250kms
Tirupati-Trimula - 22kms (ghat Road)
Reached: 9:30 AM

Returned: Next day

Really enjoyed my drive from chitoor to Tirupati. Though 2 lane, still Awesome road (See attached pic)

Ghat section was one way both uphill and down hill, so was not too risky to drive.

A week passed by.. Friends called up again.. and we set ourselves to a new trip.. This time to Mysore.

Again got up early.. and started by 5..

Had some route problems in the morning. So many roads had been dug up.. Finally we channeled ourselves through the city on to the highway!!
WOOOOAAAAHHH!!! What an highway.. Had only heard about the highway.. all what I had heard was right.. right from bangy till mysore is a double roaded beauty.. The road was soo good that could easily touch a speed of 140-150kmph

We had our breakfast @ Mendur (I guess i spelt it right).. Yes.. the place famous for its wada's.. After breakfast we stopped at Srirangapatnam.. Famous for Tipu's summer palace.. Also, visited a well know temple there.

After that we set ourselves for Mysore. As soon as we reached Mysore, we first headed towards Chamundi Hills. After the visit to temple at Chamundi, we stopped at a point where an ariel view of Mysore City was visible.. Could spot the Palace and Race Course.

By afternoon we reached mysore again, had our lunch and headed towards the palace. After visiting the palace, we waited for the sunset to see the palace glow in lights. It was our luck that we witnesed a dress rehersal for the dusherra celebrations.

The palace looked awesome in lights, and the whole city was lit with lights all around for dusheera.

We started at around 7:30 in the evening back to bangy.

On our way back had our Dinner at a Dhaba and reached back home by 11.

In all, it was a good trip.

Welcome to Bangalore dude! Enjoy the cosmo-culture here.

But I have something to advise, rather pledge.

I have one more suggestion for you. Have a look at this thread:

How on earth did you manage to drive at that speed with so many speed-breakers? I would rather bring the speed slightly down to around 100 or sub 100 and thus saving lot more fuel and tyre. My experience says, the difference - in terms of time - between 140 and 100 could not be much when you have to slow down so often because of speed-breakers or a pair of slow-moving vehicles.

Yes, you are right. It hardly makes a difference in shorter trips. But my last trip from Bangy to Hyderabad, it took around 12 hours to reach hyderabad at 90-100 speed. While on my way back, it took me just 8.5 hours to reach bangy. I wouldnt have drove fast even while coming back, but i had to attend the office on that day. So started from Hyd at 4:30 in morning and was @ my desk in office at 1 pm Sharp.
