Quebec City Photo Blog

Hi,

I was thinking of writing one travelogue. However i did not do any long driving/riding for almost a year. So planned to post this photoblog of Quebec city, Canada. This is my first blog here. There may be some mistakes in formatting and small issues.

This trip was done in July 2005. I was in Toronto on deputation. Made a sudden plan with my wife on one saturday morning to drive down to Quebec city. It was around 500 miles. I went to Enterprise rent a car at around 10:30AM. All rental procedures finished within 2 hours. Came to house had lunch and started journey at around 2PM. We took some rest room/cigarette breaks and most of the time driving was quite uneventful. Then came Quebec border and everything got changed suddenly. No English all directions and everything written in French. Missed couple of exits due to this and when got back the high way it was total dark and not much car even on the highway. Looked like this place(Quebec) was quite different than Ontario. To add the misery when i wanted to fill the gas in Car saw a sign board that next Gas station is after around 60 Miles. Pulled over at one Small shop on a small county and inquired about nearest gas station, but no body was speaking in English. Then ventured out in this small county for Gas and again missed the route . Now it's around 8:30PM, jungle , total stranger area and not much gas. On top of this it was quite foggy ( something ike horror picture fog). In one place cops blocked road and checking all the vehicles passing through that road. That was festival time in that area, so those precautions.Suddenly those dense fogs come and disappears. However i like these kin of adventure, but my wife was not quite amused. After driving down on this hilly road saw a exit towards highway 20E and quickly took the exit and pulled over at a Motel. I had already booked Hotel in Quebec city, but i did not have any choice. Stayed night over there.

Next morning drove to Quebec city from there. Reached Quebec city at around 10:30 AM. Had breakfast at McDonalds and drove around Quebec city. I must admit quebec is one of the nicest place in North America. I've uploaded some pictures of Quebec city. Could not upload more then 20 pictures as there is limitation.

We left for Toronto at 7PM and while returning it was full moon light. Driving on 401 W in jungle was pleasure. Pulled over at Thousand Iceland Casino and played for 2 hours. Then resume our journey and reached in Toronto at around 7 AM.

Actually i do not remember all the details since it's 3.5 years old drive. So may be some info are incorrect. If you come across any such error let me know.

After 3 months i again deputed to Quebec city and again got a chance to go there, but this time for a long time.

Thanks for those really nice impressions of Quebec.

I was always thinking of visiting one day as one of my fellow students from my time in Mexico lives there.

Do you still remember what was what in the pictures? One or two words with each pic would help to better understand what one is looking at.

Quebec region in canada is one of the prettiest places I have visited. People claim Switzerland is the best, but then it is too very commercialised. This part is awesum. Wish you had gone beyond the city and into the woods further up. It is mystical.

The Beautiful green palace is Chateu Frontenac.
