Thanks rkbharat! Yes, there is electricity, geyser, heater and also a non-functional fireplace in the cottage. It has two portions with a DBR in each. So a big family can book the whole cottage or a small family can book one portion. However the location of the cottage is such that it receives very little sunlight and we were shivering most of the time. Maybe it would be a nice place to stay in summer.

There is also a watchman who stays just behind the cottage and can make tea or breakfast. He can also bring lunch and dinner from the main Devdar hotel which is some 500 meters away.

You can book online through HPTDC website or any of their marketing offices. It is 2K for each portion but we managed to get a 30% discount. Apparently New Year is off season in Khajjiar, with most people preferring places like Dalhousie.

If you really want to experience snow then go there after 10th of January. This year snow is late (till now) on lower altitudes. We had snowfall (light) only for a day.

Though temperature was really low there for last few days. The day we left temperature was -5 in the morning and we had to put boiling water on the windscreen to push out the ice.

@Rudra, now you are pouring salt on our wounds! Wonderful pictures.

You don't get to see too many GVs in Manali. We did happen to see one black GV with HR registration going towards the log huts on 28th afternoon. Wonder who it was.

Great pictures. Reminds me of my drive from Noida to Shimla in 2003.
Best part of staying in North India is that you can drive to these places as soon you get news that it had snowed in HP. btw, it usually snows a lot in January ( specially last 2 weeks)
cheers
